Better than spending $10 million on Eric Gagne!

Oh, wait...

Depends on what value you put on good (no longer great - at least, I don't think many metrics put him in the great category anymore) defense. As for this specific deal, it doesn't seem too bad given that the CF market is pretty thin and I don't think the Brewers have anyone coming up that'll provide the same mixture of decent offense and good to very good defense.

Please tell me that's 10m over 2 years.

Or it's a 1 year deal.

Ten million isn't what it used to be.

Maybe I've been desensitized to big money contracts, but it doesn't seem that bad for a 1 year option.

It's not, especially when you consider it's really $9.25 million cost due to the buyout on the option. I don't think you could get a better CF for that price point.

When the relatively free market puts the value of a WAR at $4.5M, $10M for an above-average MLB CF is a good deal. Almost a no-brainer.

As per a sports columnist in Wisconsin: the Brewers resigned Cameron because he's a friend of CC Sabathia's. They're pulling out all the stops to retain the Big Fella.

They have to pay Cameron a lot, because the rich Los Angeles teams are always in the market for CFs!
