1 League, 1 Sub-league, 1 Division setup

I am still (fairly) new to the sim managment game of baseball and, i find it is much more easier to play with 1 pro League structured as: 1 Subleague, 1 Division with 4-8 teams total and then expand from there.

My problem with this is that once i decide to add another division to my league there seems to be a couple glitches i'm sure some are aware of. (awards, champions, league history)
(I can't remember them all right now for i haven't played ootp9 for a while now.) Do any of you guys experience any problems with this league setup?

One thing i would like to see is in the history of champions, since there is only 1 conference i would like to see the League Champion and then the Finalist instead of this staying blank. Is there a plan to do something like this, perhaps in a patch? Would a change like that be possible to make?

Sounds like something for the suggestions forum; I agree that for leagues with 1 sub-league the finalist should be listed instead of a blank.

I haven't expanded my small 1-division league to multiple divisions yet, but the league "finalist" as you call it shows up as the champion, that is if I understand your point correctly.

The finalist is the team that loses in the championship round of the playoffs. The champion is the team that wins that round. It's really a tennis term.

Not being in the least sarcastic, dave, but in the U.S. we usually call the team that loses in the finals 'the loser'. That's just how we think down here, and it's why members of the team that loses in the championship round receive 'the loser's share' of the purse.

The worst (meaning most appropriate) example of that would be the Buffalo Bills, who set a record by appearing in four consecutive Super Bowls. That actually should qualify them as maybe the fourth or fifth greatest dynasty in NFL history, but most people not from New York State think of them as a loser team because no other team has ever lost four consecutive Super Bowls.

The only sports I can think of that use the term 'finalist' are a very few individual sports like tennis, or in the special case of 'Olympic finalist'.

It's worse than that. No team in any of the other major team sports leagues in North America (MLB, NBA, and NHL) has lost in four consecutive championship apperances. The record in the other sports is three consecutive losses.

Wow, I guess the Bills are pretty impressive then... or maybe depressive?

You are speaking for yourself, not the USA as a whole. Sure, the Bills were considered a team that feel short, yes they were the "Losers of the Superbowl," but it they considered the AFC Champions or 4 time Superbowl Appearences.

In hockey the Detroit Red Wings were the Stanley Cup Champions and they beat the Pittsburgh Penguins, sure the Penguins may be considered the "losers" by some, but more accurately they are considered the Stanley Cup Finalists or Eastern Conference Champions.

The accurate terminology in hockey is in fact Finalist, and it doesn't matter what others may call the team.
