Crappy AI trade proposals

I received a trade offer for my crappy 25 year old 2nd baseman, in exchange for a 5 star RP and 500k cash. Do you guys reject these obviously bad trades? It seems like cheating if I take it! I have trading on hard, with favor prospects.

I was offered 41 yr old has-been SS Omar Vizquel, and computer wanted 1B Kendry Morales of Angels... I have yet received decent trade proposals.. even was offered Greg Counsel for Howie Kendrick...

What do you guys have your AI trading setting at? Several have trading "hard" which put me in the position of never being able to work out a trade. If you move the setting to easy, you get ridiculously great offers. I have mine at average and seems to work fairly decently.

And no, I typically don't accept a ridiculously great offer - but will throw in a bit more to level it out if I really want the guy or guys offered.

Also, the time of year you try to make a trade will greatly impact your success. If it is right around the time FA's are announced, no one wants your guys as much as during the season.

Just as a question what were the contracts like. Could have been a rebuilding team trying to ditch some contract.

I am new to OOTP and was wondering if it is possible for you to turn AI trades off? I see where you can set the frequency (which I set to Very Low) but I don't see where I can restrict it completely.

It's in League Setup, Rules tab, Trade Rules, Player Trades, Enable Trading. I believe you can still force trades as commissioner, if you care to manufacture them.

I ALWAYS have mine set as HARD and I like the results. Good trades in my favor are very hard to come by. I hardly ever get any sent to me that make me jump up and down, but to me, that is a good thing. It makes me think that I am playing 'smart' people.

I have made a couple trades that I thought were in my favor, but not by using the option to see what people are interested, but instead I go to the trade screen, find a player I want to get and then select MAKE THIS WORK. I have made several trades this way. No big block buster trades, but it has let me find that 5th starter or left fielder that I needed.

To me, it makes the game harder, to make up for the not so smart AI in some other parts of the game.

When Reggie Jackson got hurt, I could not find a power hitter replacement, without giving up a fine player. That made perfect sense to me.

Ok I think I jumped the gun. The MR I received isn't that great.. My 2nd baseman was a .280 hitter and had potential for perennial gold gloves.

What gets me curious, is that everytime I'm offered a fairly decent proposal, it is usually for a position where I have a very good player I turn it down and BINGO, 3 days later my star gets injured. Do I have to hire bodyguards for my players?
