News page text is a mess.

Pardon me if this is a known issue that I've missed in other threads, but the text in my League News page is missing several words, including team names.

For example, it will say "Player Name () and Player 2 Name () are the players of the week." I'm assuming the team names are supposed to be between the ( ), but it is always blank, regardless of my team.

I've also found some incomplete sentences with various words missing.

The reason the team name is not showing is because there is no abbreviation for the team under team setup. I noticed this same thing on one of my leagues.

Go through all your teams under team setup and set the abrv.

Good luck!

Thanks! I had abbreviations for all of the teams, but some of them were only 2 letters. I think that was the problem.

I made all of the abbreviations 3 letters long and that seems to have corrected the problem.

I don't know. I've seen this before with 3-letter abbreviations. BTW, check the players who are POW when this happens... they probably didn't get credited for it. I've always checked league news for these errors, then used the 3rd party editor to add in the POW stat.

I've noticed this problem since v3.

Well, here's an example of a 2-letter abbreviation being recorded properly (in v4).

Still looking for an example of the missing abbreviation. (Of course, now that I'm looking, none of my current leagues have one of these errors!)

Edit- deleted attachment to resize it, and now I can't reattach! Trust me, there was a screen shot here...

And here's one from v5.

I haven't seen the problem in v5, though I saw it pretty often in v4. The leagues I saw this in are long gone, though.

Yep, we've been using two letter abbreviations with no ill affects in both OOTP4 and OOTP5.

Ok, thanks. But that means we're back to square one. Anyone know what DOES cause the problems if it's not two-letter abbreviations?

I had way too many "()" appearances for a while in my custom league.

Did you do any editing to the league structure? Expansion, moving teams from one division to another, etc.? That's usually where I have seen it happen.

Sporr:

I just created a 20 team fictional league and left all teams where they were. No expansion, no shifting. Nothing.

Treches:

I don't have a screenshot, but my example in the first message in this thread is word for word, with the exception of player names. Next time it happens I'll take a ss and post it.
