Anyone know why most ESPN personalities bash MMA? To me it's boxing, but with a wider spectrum of competition involved (wrestling, kick boxing, etc). Boxing is still respected for the most part, but MMA should be respected as much if not more IMO.

MMA is still having to work to overcome the sport's early days (which weren't long ago) of few rules and no regulation.

Many people still see it as "no holds barred" fighting.

It also doesn't help when you have primetime billing for Kimbo Slice and he embarasses the sport. CBS is ruining things for everyone.

You're preaching to the choir there. I have no problem with Kimbo trying his hand at MMA, so my ire isn't really at him, but giving a guy in his third and fourth fights main event status above title fights is ridiculous and does nothing for the sport's mainstream acceptance.

I hope EliteXC fails, and I'm not the sort of person who roots for people/organizations to go out of business like that.

1. Football (American - NFL, NCAA and High School)
2. Baseball (MLB)
3. Basketball (NCAA and High School - I hate the NBA, which is ironic)
4. Soccer (Rec League Coaching and High School)
5. This used to be fencing, but I lost my love for the sport due to its sorry state anywhere but California and New York practically and the absolute bungling of some great US performances in the Olympics by USFA. So this spot will be taken by whatever sport I pick up next to play.

Your call.

I would have to extend my list to over 5 if I were to do it that way. Some people are putting NFL and College FB in different slots.

I would never never guessed to ever see curling, much less see it on both multiple lists and listed first. Wild

Hockey (all)
Baseball (fantasy and minor league only)
Curling

that is all.

Dola.

To me, the way it's promoted makes it seem more on the level of pro wrestling, motocross, and monster truck rallies than a mainstream sport.

Just because a sport involves "a wider spectrum of competition" doesn't make it more popular or legitimate. If it did then decathlon would pull in more money and higher ratings than the NFL.

Just my opinion, but MMA is showing the slow decline of this phase of society...1st it was sex that was becoming more in our faces as if it were nothing but an activity, now guys beating the snot out of each other for the enjoyment of the masses.

This happened at the tail end of the Roman Empire as well...

Oh and I just like baseball
