Pitcher unable to be placed in rotation

Hey,

I have one pitcher who is in the starting rotation (listed as a SP) and every time his spot comes-up in the rotation - he is bypassed. If I go to "manage" the game - my team does not have a starting pitcher (when it's his turn). I can manually place him but why does this happen and how can I repair it?
