The potential class of 1930 is most certainly the weakest so far in the short history of the HBL. With only one new candidate, hopes are very high for Frank Baker....in his last year of eligibility. Here you go:
Bob Shawkey- Bob was a pitcher for the New York Yankees from 1921 to 1929. He was named a Starting Pitcher of the Year 2 times. He was also named to 2 All-Star Teams(did not play). He pitched in 4 Post-Season games(2-0, 4.50ERA, 18IP, 13K, 1.28WHIP). He was named a Pitcher of the Month 3 times in his career. As of the end of 1930, he ranks 23rd in ERA, 13th in wins, 18th in Ks, 25th in CG, and 15th in SHO. CAREER STATS : Also, held over from last year are Frank Baker, Bill Doak, Bobby Veach, and Zack Wheat. This is the last year of eligibility for Baker and Doak. Veach will be removed if he gets no votes. Information on Baker and Doak can be found here: http://www.ootpbb.com/board/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=2&t=000098 Information on Bobby Veach can be found here: http://www.ootpbb.com/board/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=2&t=000103 Information on Zack Wheat can be found here: http://www.ootpbb.com/board/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=2&t=000111 I will leave the voting open for a couple of days or so. Thanks!!! [ February 19, 2002: Message edited by: Highlander ]

I, too, have to submit a blank ballot.
Wheat almost made my ballot, and perhaps if he had another 52 hits in 1928 he might have but as it is he falls just short in my books.
