Larger Roster Size
I have created a custom league and allowed a 30 active roster and 45 man secondary roster. I wanted to open a discussion on how to arrange the roster.
Obviously, you have your starting 8 position players, DH, and standard rotation. I am currently using a 5man rotation, but plan to go to 6 when I can staff it. I also am carrying a few extra relievers. My other remaining slots are currently being used for extra position players. My plan with the team is to have your standard back ups, corner infielder, middle infielder, outfielder, catcher, and then also find a couple extra bats to come off the bench and get some pinch hits in, and post a decent average in that role. That would allow me to focus more on defensive back ups for later innings when winning, and a small set of good offensive back ups for games I am losing, or to fill in for slumping players. I am thinking of carrying a 3rd catcher but I am not sure it is needed. How would you arrange a 30 man roster? |

I'd go 16 batters, 14 pitchers
Batters: Starting 9(if dh is on, if off, I'd go with a 3rd catcher) Backup C (good defensively) Backup MI (good defensively) Backup CI 2 Backup OF(one good defensively, one regular 4th of type that could fill in) 2 primary pinch hitters(one lefty, one righty) Pitchers: 5 starters Long Reliever/Spot Starter ROOGY LOOGY 3 versatile middle relievers that can preferably pitch to both righties and lefties 2 setup (one lefty, one righty) Closer |
