OOTP9 in Linux

So I have a pure Linux laptop here (the latest version of xubuntu on it) and I would love to transfer OOTP9 from my house computer to the lappy. More convenience and all. Now I've read some people having success with OOTP9 in Linux, but for me whenever I start up OOTP9 in Wine, it loads up and shows the splash screen and then terminates. Does anyone know why this is occurring? I think it might be my video card configuration (I have a Radeon Xpress 1100 IGP) but I'm not sure if the Driver is up to date (I've just begun using Linux about a month ago) so maybe this is the problem? And if it is, anyone want to talk me through configuring the card?

I'll drop a PM to Eriqjaffe as he has made a lot of posts about OOTP and Linux.

Thanks, Tony, I probably would've missed this.

My best guess would be the video drivers - ATI's Linux support isn't the greatest, and things are usually much smoother with nVidia chipsets.

That being said, you can make sure you're running real, recent drivers using a package called "Envy-NG". From a terminal:

Code:
sudo apt-get install envyng-core envyng-gtk
Once that's installed, run "sudo envyng -g" in a terminal - it should be pretty self-explanatory to install the ATI drivers. Like I said, ATI video doesn't work as easily as nVidia, but since you're on a laptop, your choices are limited.

You can read more about EnvyNG here.

Good luck!

Hmm. Well I ran the EnvyNG program, but alas I still get loading screen loading then aborts before the main menu comes up. Anyone else experience this and solve the problem?
