When to convert league to OOTP 9?

Our league is switching to OOTP 9 at the end of our current season. Is there a recommended in-game date for making the change? In the past, it was suggested to switch on Opening Day, but I'd like to do it in November or December to get the new Jan. 1 scouting rankings. Does it matter, and if so, what will get messed up if you convert at the "wrong" time?

Two leagues I'm in both converted as soon as the WS was completed. We've had no problems.
