The loading of the database failed...
...it is either corrupt or a save-game from an old version.
8 seasons into a new game, so I'm guessing corrupt--the program crashed while it was shutting down, and now I can't restart it. In my .lg file, both the players.dat and retired.dat read zero. Have I totally lost eight seasons? --fxc |

Check the contents of the *.lg folder (your 8 season league). Are there files there with the *.bak file extension? If so do the players.bak and retired.bak files also read zero? If not you could try to manually renaming those files to .dat files and try to load the game again. Also check the backups folder just in case you created a league file backup for this league in the past.

Hi Harmon,
Thanks. Unfortunately, all the files are dat, not bak. Nothing helpful in backups either. --fxc |

If players.dat and retired.dat are 0 in size then unfortunately these files are blank, and if there's no backup files then yes, your 8 years are gone
