Error during backup function
Couldn't find anything on this.
I get no information about what the error is, just the message: "Error during backup function. The backup could not be updated!" This is the first time running this backup for this league, although the league file shares the name of a former league that no longer exists (and has been deleted). The "Help" button produces nothing ("Sorry, there's no help page available for this function.") Any ideas? |

Can you backup other leagues without issue? Could there be any write-protected files or folders involved?

Had you backed up the league with the same name before? IIRC, the backups get put in a backup directory so it could be that the name is already in use.

First instance, first league. Error. Shall I zip and send you the files? The game doesn't provide me any information about the problem, so I can't tell you what the issue is. The "backups" folder (at Documents->Out of the Park Developments->OOTP Baseball 9) is empty. |

I just created another league without changing any settings and it backed up fine. I created a new league using the template I created originally and it had back up issues.
So, it seems that some setting causes the problem. I can zip the files and send them, but the problem exists in the league I've already uploaded and am awaiting an answer for why the first_names.txt file wouldn't import properly. Can you use that? I hoping to actually play this game someday!!! Thanks, cbbl |

If you rename your .lg folder to something else, then open up OOTP 9 and try to back it up, will it work? |

I dunno. People can't reproduce the name issue. People can't reproduce the back-up issue. But I'm not making this stuff up. This is a nearly brand-new iMac for which I've eradicated OOTP and started over. But I can't get either of them to work. I thought I'd try one more time, start from scratch. Build my custom league. No dice. Backup error. Sigh |

Have you tried to make a backup of the league from your operating system? I find that is the best way to backup a league, as it is quicker, since the OS does not require a huge baseball program in the background.
I know you are a Mac, but I am sure there are free utilities that can automate this process for you, there are on the PC.
