Importing question for historical league
I posted this question on the new to the game board a few days back, but haven't got an answer, so figured I'd try here instead.
I am trying to run a historical league from 1903 using the Gambo database on OOTP9. When I run the league, I like to assign players to original teams rather than draft them randomly, and I also like to turn off financials thus eliminating free agents. My question, if you do this, what happens to the players that assign to no team, do I have to manually assign them to a team and if so when? Or, a different angle, could I enter the database file and edit their import team, and if I can do that; which files would I need to edit to change this? If this is the case, I have excel 2003, and can't open the whole batting or pitching file as they are too large; so is there any freeware application I can use to open and edit the file? Thanks for any help!! Shane |

I wasn't aware any players were not assigned a team, hence why I didn't answer on the other forum.

From the Gambo database, I don't think any of the negro league players, or the minor leaguers assign to a team. Maybe I'm wrong. But I wasn't able to locate any of them when I played through a 20 or so seasons.
Maybe I missed something though! Anybody able to confirm this ? |

clamel, I thought, was asking something about this very thing. Check the Gambo db thread at the end.
