Stats Leaderboard Suggestions

Two quick ideas for stats history leaderboards... I don't know how feasible they are; I know baseball but not programming, so apologies if they aren't worth the efforts!

1) Totals-based statistics should not require plate-appearance minimums. This would be especially helpful in the minor leagues where players may get called up before meeting the minimum number of PA/IP while leading in a certain statistic.

For example... let's say that Joe Schmoe has 74 SB with AA Nowheresville (tops all-time for his league) but he has 400 PA (and he needs 15 more to qualify) when he gets called up to The Show for the rest of the season.

Personally, I think he should qualify for the all-time and single-season leaderboards because he set those records. It should considered even more of a feat because he did it in fewer AB.

Stats that (I feel) fit this category, however unlikely it may be that records may be set without meeting the minimums...

Batters
Games
Runs
Hits
Total Bases
Singles
Doubles
Triples
Home Runs
RBI (which should be singular, by the way)
Triples
Stolen Bases
Caught Stealing
Walks
Strikeouts

Pitchers
Wins
Losses
Saves
Complete Games
Shutouts
Hits Allowed
Home Runs Allowed
Strikeouts
Base on Balls

Average-based statistics should require minimums to avoid a cup-of-coffee player setting a record for highest ERA simply because he pitched to three batters and gave up three home runs.

2) Also, is it possible to have leaderboards for pitchers' hitting exploits, too? I know it would require a different minimum PA set-up, but the first thing I do in my leagues is turn off the DH...

Sorry--nitpicking is all I have left! How else could you make a great thing better? (Keep up the great work!)

#1 already works that way.

#2 is an ok idea, but I don't know that anyone would want to see it on the graphical leaderboard. Since you can already create your own leaders list on the "sortable player stats" link, and save the list options with a name like "Pitcher Batting Leaders," it's already there.

Solonor...

Good point about #2, but #1 doesn't already work that way. For example, in my current game, the all-time leader in my (minor) league in steals has 46 (this season--he wasn't in the league last year), has not met the minimum PA yet but does not appear on the single-season leaderboard. (It would be nice if the single-season leaderboards updated during the season if someone broke a record, too.) However, there is a player a few places down that stole 31 bases--all last season--who does not make the single-season list (which is led by a player with 22 SB and more than the minimum PA) as he is short on PA.

I wish I had pics of this, but I tried to cut and paste as best I could below.

Gerrard had all of his SB in 2008 and should have beaten Moore for the single-season honors as well.

Clear as mud?

Oh crap! I'm sorry. I thought you were talking about the regular stats page leaders in the game, not the history page leaderboards.

I totally agree. Those are messed up.
