Question Free Agent / Roster Question

I started a historical major league in 1900 and had settings set at 25 man roster, 40 man secondary roster, and had one minor league team with ghost players. I had an inaugural draft (I have not had a "rookie" or 1st year player draft yet) that only added 12 players to my major league team with no one "shown" on any of the minor league teams. I had to have the AI fill rosters with fictional players. Since then, I am up to 17 players playing in the middle of pre-season games. When I look at the unsigned free agents list, there are seven players shown. However, I can not make an offer to these players to try to sign any of them. Is there any reason why I can not make an offer?

Thanks

When you right click on a free agent does the offer contract option appear? How's your team's budget? Do you have money available to sign any players? When you try and make an offer what does it say?

How's your team's budget? Will have to look...Will advise

Do you have money available to sign any players? Will have to look...Will advise

When you try and make an offer what does it say? Have not tried yet. Its too early and all teams are still under the 25 man roster

Are you playing in commissioner mode or are you managing a team. If you're in commish mode then you have to "Act As" as specific team to sign a FA, release a player, offer an extension etc. etc.

I am managing a team. However, even in commish mode, I still can not do anything with the people listed on the free agent list.

I'm no expert, but it sounds like a corrupted database. Since you're still at the beginning, and I assume you saved your structure as a template (did you?), try re-starting the league, and see if the same thing happens. You should have enough real players to populate the real teams of that year. Unless you have 32 teams instead of 16...

Are the FA allowed to play in the league, ie, is there a limit to players not playing from your country, or are they too young/old for your league.

Could they be pre-drafties, sometimes the game starts generating players a little to early.

Question Not enough players!!! Where are they???

I just tried starting a brand new 16 team historical MLB 1900 league, from scratch (did not use a template), with AAA being the only minor league. I have the game settings set up at the following: 25 man rosters, 40 man secondary rosters, finances off, amateur draft on, inaugural draft on, allow ghost players, yes to pre-season, no age restrictions, no foreigners, and I used historical database for the league setup (not master).

I just finished the inaugural draft and my MLB team has only 11 players; my AAA team has zero players!!!

My question is what happen to all the other MLB players? To get my MLB team roster & my AAA team roster to where should be, do I need to select "Fill Teams With Fictional Players" under the function menu, under League Setup?

If I start playing any pre-season games, I'm sure it will lead to major problems for the 11 players I currently have; injuries, fatigue, etc.

Side note: I'll have to wait until June 1st until the Amateur Draft.

In 1900 there were only eight big league teams. You're trying to take eight teams worth of players and fit them on sixteen teams. The math just isn't there.

Plus the DB doesn't have the Minors in them making even less players players to go around.

Question Where are the 16 teams coming from?

Guys,

I'm using Advanced Mode for the League setup. I'm not added anything extra at the major league level. If there are only 8 teams that existed in 1900, why then does the game automatically produce 16 teams?

Should I start the league in 1901 instead? Will that fill up the major league teams the proper way so there are 25 man rosters?

Thanks

I have no idea why the game is giving you 16 teams in 1900 - that didn't happen until 1901. If you start in 1901, you should have nearly full rosters, but I can't guarantee everyone will have 25. Some teams may not.

You also will have barely any minor leaguers (if you have any at all), as they will only be guys left over after all teams get their big league clubs filled.
