OOTP is the only game worthy of my fanboyism. I play it every chance I get, much to my wife's chagrin.
Somebody mentioned that OOTP is more than a game, it's a hobby. For most, I suspect, it's THE HOBBY. As a software engineer of 20 + years and a onetime game developer myself, I look at OOTP and fully grasp the complexity level in putting a product out like this. Additionally, unlike some developers, Markus puts aside his own ego and vision and updates the game to please the players. This makes yearly updates something to truly look forward to and not just a roster update. Thanks Markus for a great game! |

Hands down, the best
What I love so much about this game is the incredible flexibility you have. I have several historical leagues, a fictional league and a "historical" fictional league going all at once. I also love how realistic the historical league results are, which was my gripe with Puresim; historical leagues were easy to create but the results didn't seem realistic to me. I agree with the earlier poster who said they would have loved this game as a kid. Actually, I'm thankful it didn't come out when I was a kid because my grades would have been a lot worse with all the hours put into playing this!

I wonder how this is with other OOTP'ers, but come spring when baseball fever hits, I can't get enough OOTP.
Just me there? |

Put me down as another OOTP lover. The game just plain makes me happy. Solo play, online leagues, you name it. I can create my ultimate imaginary baseball universe and revel in all the craziness that happens therein.
Good stuff from a dedicated developer. And there are no words for how thankful I am that it runs on Macs! Go Team OOTP!

Well, the new scouting system (especially since the patch where you can set the accuracy), has exceeded my expectations.
So, I am actually using the scouting system and having fun with it. This was my main concern in upgrading, because I didn't see any point in having new features if I wasn't going to use them. I have a cool fictional game, called the `Galaxy League', with 16 teams, including 2 sub leagues, `Milky Way', and `Orion Belt', with 2 divisions each including triple A and double A minors. I'm finally learning the mechanics of all the different `rules', like option years, rule 5 draft, waivers, etc. The first season, my team, the `Chicago Turbos', finished last. Then, I made a few trades, and this season we're in 2nd place so far. A few of my players are in the league leaders, including one of my starting pitchers. Trading has always been my weakest ability with the baseball sims. Even though I'm playing with trading set to normal, (which I understand from the forums is easy), at least I'm finally learning how to trade for better players, and build my team with new talent. So, to sum up, in keeping with the original point of this thread, OOTP9 is one of my top favorite PC games, and on my daily play list. I leave it up to the hard core players to critique the game, and prompt for patch improvements. For me, OOTP9 is really one of the best PC games available. |

Same here. I think that only my copy of IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946, which I got for a whopping $4.99 at the local EB, has given me more bang for the buck.

Now if only I had the gear to make owning the game worthwhile (better computer, CH Products Pro Pedals, Throttle, and Stick)... For all those who like their military-themed sim games and aren't aware of the site, be sure to stop by SimHQ. The forums there are quite extensive. |

The dev team REALLY cares what we, their customers, think and want. No other game developer can say the same. I am currently playing a game called "sim country" and they ban anyone who makes even the slightest critique to that game's dev. I used to play TFC (one of my three favorite games. Noone will have to guess what another of my 3 favorite games of all time are ) until they switched to Steam. Many problems with steam, and the people who run steam COMPLETELY ignore people. They don't even bother with the banning, they just simply ignore everything....i mean EVERYTHING!!Civ IV is the other third of my favorite games. That game does not have the extensive mod community, or support for its customers as ootp does. (Note: Civ II was, by far, the best game of that series for it's time. But Civ IV is the best simply because it is a lot more sophisticated) But, yeah, to sum up, I have never seen the willingness to please, nor the response time for any other company in existence like the OOTP dev team, and they do it with a very limited staff. AND it is VERY MUCH appreciated! One thing that puts this game on top of the heap of ALLL the other games: Its replayability. It is impossible to play the game every single way that is possible to play it within one lifetime. That cannot be said of Civ IV, or TFC, nor any other game I have ever played for that matter. |

I haven't posted here, because OOTP knows I love her. She shouldn't expect me to say it.

Best.Game.Ever.
OOTP is better than Ambien for curing insomnia; whenever I cant unwind enough to fall asleep I just go over my league set-up or history or plan a new "what-if" and before I know it its lights out. The next day. |

Wait. This isn't a Order Of The Phoenix fan site? Crap.
OOTP (the baseball game) is my all time favorite game. Although I also tend to spend more time on these boards then playing the game (mostly because while I can't play games at work, I can browse the Internet!) |

OOTP is a fantastic game. I love several things about it:
- Realistic sim with good AI; - Equally enjoyable as a single-player or online game; - Excellent for fictional leagues (the only way I play); - Unbeatable customization options. These are the four things I look for in a sports sim, and OOTP has them all. |

I use the Fighterstick and the Pro Pedals. They really make the game even more fun - and that's hard to do, given how much fun it is to be up in my Spitfire intercepting incoming Messerschmidts over the Cliffs of Dover all by itself.

Amazon.com won't ship software to Canada, they force you to buy from the Amazon.ca web site where prices are often higher, plus and the game isn't available on the Canadian site.
![]() I've got analog CH Pedals which I bought years and years ago (playing a flight sim without rudder pedals just isn't right). Going all-USB with the flight gear would be much, much better... |

Want a visa?
![]() USB is truly the way to go. Check out the Fighterstick if you can, it has a throttle control on it. Also let me recommend Virtual Top Gun - Air Combat Training to you. Virtual Top Gun is how I went from being an okay online fighter pilot to being a really scary one.
