I promise you and the guys one thing. If I crash again in a similar manner using 9.1.2, I will post here again in the interests of truth and fairness.

Every complicated computer game is liable to crash once in a while, but to crash so soon after the 9.1.6 patch, when others had been complaining about crashing with the 9.1.5 beta, after I had just got done speculating whether I should patch or not because I was having no problems at all, that's too much of a coincidence for me unless I have a bizarre case of computer hypochondria!

So, if you don't hear from me in this thread again, it's because I'm heavily engaged in quest of my latest dynasty, unburdened by doom messages from Windows. Try the patch for your own game, just back up your league first. Good luck!

Dola,

By the way, this is exactly what happened to me in 9.1.6 and is the way that I play (warmups off) all the time:

Quote:
9.1.2 Fix List

Fixed sporadic crash clicking on substitution tab with warmups disabled
Again, never a problem before when playing with 9.1.2. Perhaps it was "unfixed" in 9.1.6?

Just a suggestion on the basis of one incident, nothing more.

If we start an MLB league, does it now have the 2007 MVPs in the history file? Or are they still missing? (Cy Young and ROYs are there, but not the MVPs.)

And if they are still missing, is there a way to fix this? Can we edit the history file? Or can you guys fix this one detail and upload a new history file?

Let me just say this...

Make sure, if you're having a crash issue, that you start a NEW league. Otherwise, we can never tell if it is a horked older league that was crippled with a previous version. No, it sure isn't convenient. But yes, it really is the only way to make sure a botched league doesn't cause the crashes.

If you start a new patch, you gotta run clean. That is, if you're having crash issues.

Just curious, but I'm one of the people who got this game through Steam, and I'm just wondering how I would go about updating that version of it?

The crash with pitcher sub isn't intrinsically new to the patch--I've had it both on the original shipped version and 9.1.2 --- trying to get some data together to help pinpoint. Might or might not be coincidence...but certainly not something added with the patch.

In the demo when I get to the first of August the game won't advance any more, I thought we had one and a half years play which would allows us to experience the off season process, not half a year. This is using Cubby Fans roster set btw.

Unfixed With .exe Only

I downloaded all 221 megs of 9.1.2 on my dial-up connection. It took me around a week, downloading mainly at night while I slept. I'd hate to go through that again for 9.1.6. If I only download the 10 meg .exe, precisely what fixes will I be missing? Could you kindly post a list of the fixes I'll be missing so that I'll know whether or not I want to go through another marathon download.

I'll let others with more knowledge of the patch address the question of what fixes you'd be missing out on with just the exe file. Just wanted to say that I'm also on dial-up (and incidentally, using a segmented download as others suggested on this forum did speed up my download time a good deal; you might want to look into that if you haven't already). My suggestion is just to use the exe for now and do a complete download of the game later when Markus declares a patch to be the final one for version 9. I believe he's already suggested that one should start a new league for best results with the latest patch. That being the case, if one is going to have to start fresh anyway, I figure one may as well wait for this version to be "finished" before starting some serious ball-playing. In the interim, I'm experimenting with Skydog's settings, size of league, league rules and options etc. so that I'll be able to get down to it once I know that I won't have to scrap a league to accomodate another patch.

I used the suggested free download manager when I downloaded 9.1.2. It still took around a week of night-time downloading.

I used GetRight myself and set it up to download the program in four segments. If I remember right, took about 10-14 hours with a download rate of 5kb. Bottom line I guess is that no matter what you do, downloading 200 megs on dial-up is gonna take a while. Which is why I suggest contenting oneself with the executable update till patching is complete on this version. I'd like to have the full update (for example, I know the major league roster upgrades aren't included with the exe file), but it isn't practical for me to do that each time a patch comes out.

Thanks for the reply. Does that mean once I create the .lg, that I will not have that option again. I guess I am a little confused as to where the import screen/options are located.

Thanks,

Thumbs down

I'm having problems here:

First, where do I look to find my version number?

Second, why do you put the instructions for updating the executables (whatever they are) in every time, but you don't put in the instructions for how to do a complete update? (I am a Mac user.)

I'm pretty sure I screwed this up, but I can't tell for sure. I guess if it doesn't crash, then I must not have done it right?

After the start up screen, the main menu screen pops up with the big OOTP 9 logo and menu selections on the left. In the bottom corner of the window, it indicates which version you have installed. If you Get Info on the application itself, it would probably also tell you.

On a Mac, to do a full update, download the whole installer and just run the install as normal, making sure if you changed the default install location when you first installed OOTP, that you install into the same location again. Any saved games and mods from before will still be there. (I'm on a Mac too, and this process has worked fine for me.)
