Can't find historical data base message
I have 5 historical seasons (1948, 1954, 1995, 1997 & 2007) and 1 current fictional season set up and have been playing (OOTP9)them with no problem. Yesterday I defragment my computer after uninstalling OOTP8 & 7. Now when I open 1948, 1954, 1995 & 1997 I get the can't find historical data base message which tells me to check my database path in league options. When I go to the league options page I can't find any place to check the path. When I go to the league functions page and click on import roosters, for example, it shows the path pointing to the applicable saved game folder.
How do I determine where it is looking for the historical database and how do I get it to look into the correct place or is something else wrong? |

It should be on the Rules page under "Historical Rookies Options" - I can't think of any reason why a de-frag will have got rid of the historical database.

This is what the manual says: During game creation, this area displays the text “Please set after game has
been created!” When you access this page through the Game Setup option later, the database path will be set to whichever directory stores your historical database. If you have moved your historical database, or if you didn’t use a historical database during game creation, you can enter a new path here. My question is what directory is the historical database normally found in? I may have deleted it when uninstalling ootp7&8. If so, how do I download it again and where do I put it. |

I'm not sure how converted historical leagues work in that fashion, exactly. The OOTP9 historical database is found at OOTP Baseball 9/data/stats in the master.csv or historical_database.odb files. You probably either need to redirect the league to use a different database (not sure if that's possible) or re-download your old copy of OOTP and save the historical database file.

I finally figured that out and redirected OOTP9 to that directory. It now works for 1948, 54, 95 & 97 but I still get the same message for 2007 unless I un-check the use historical rookies box. Are there no historical rookies for 2007 in the data base?

No, except that it seems that someone should now if the historical rookie feature is available for 2007 or not or if there is a fault with that season.

I'm not a historical player, but given that it didn't appear, it's a safe assumption that it's not in the database. Feel free to ask around in General Discussions if you want to be sure.
I'll close this out for now. |
