Facegen>Real Pictures?

Searched but didn't see an answer to this particular question.

Rather than playing one league at a time I tend to switch off every day or so between my 2008 fictional league, a 1920 hist. league, and a 2008 real league.

Because of the two leagues using real players I want to use real pictures, but I use facegen pics for the fictional league. Problem is with 16000 real pics, quite a few of my fictional players have names matching real players, so the photo takes precidence over the facegen pic. If I generate a new facegen pic, next time I load the real pic is back.

A workaround is to back up the photo folder and use an empty folder whenever I start the fictional league, but this is kind of a pain, and I forget to do it half the time....So, is there an in-game way to lock a player into using the facegen pic?

Not really, as the game is programmed to look in your \OOTP Baseball 9\data\photos folder every time it boots up to see if it can find any matches between your player names and real photo file names. If so, it substitutes the real photo for FaceGen picture.

However, I think I have a better workaround than yours. Copy the real photos in your \OOTP Baseball 9\data\photos folder to this folder in your real/historical leagues: \OOTP Baseball 9\data\saved_games\[real or historical game].lg\news\html\images. Then either delete the photos in \OOTP Baseball 9\data\photos or maybe rename the folder to something like \OOTP Baseball 9\data\photos_archive. If your fictional game cannot find the real photos there, it will not override the FaceGen versions, I believe.

Thanks, that did the trick. I didn't realize the pictures "lived" anywhere else. The only other thing I had to do was go into my fictional league and delete the "real" pics, so that new facegen ones were created.

Yes, the important folder is the one inside the saved game; that's where the action is. The one in the main game directory (same for ballcaps and jerseys) are to provide convenient sources of images for multiple games. I just got done talking to another guy on the main board who I think had a somewhat similar problem in that a generic jersey file was overwriting the one that he was trying to work on inside his game folder. Anyway, happy to help!
