I have come over to the fictional side
After years of doing the real player thing, I have come to playing fictional teams. I love it. It has been really fun learning the players and not having pre-contrived notions of the players. It is a great way to play OOTP

I have been playing with real players for a long time but recently i've been convincing myself to try out a fictional league.
I think i might start one up tonight and try it out! Stupid work is preventing me from playing right now!, lol |

It's funny how if you asked someone if they would want to play madden or nba 2k with fictional players the answer would most likely be a quick "no".
But here playing ootp with fictional players/teams if you don't overwhelm yourself is a lot of fun. |

The best way to be fully immersed in the game. The players are just as real.

I would love to get into one but I just can't seem to get past the amount of work and collecting required to make a fictional league look as slick and together as the real life leagues I've been playing.
That and I can't for the life of me figure out how to set up a league the way I want to as an expansion from scratch. |

Sometimes, I find a lot of the fun is just in setting up the league!!! But maybe that is just me....You may also find one of the templates/quickstarts out there is what you are looking for. As for how to setup an expansion league from scratch...post some questions on the board, I am sure the many knowledgeable folks will help you! |

That's only because, I think, OOTP offers so much customization, therefore being able to build a fictional league to fit your needs and imagination. I know my answer would have been 'NO' to playing Madden with fictional players...although playing the Franchise mode, later in the years when the league starts filling up with mainly fictional players, i actually did start to get into it. But that was pre-OOTP days, now Madden's fictional would suck..LOL

I would play those games with fictional players, but that's just me.

MLB rosters are really just the same as fictional anyway, since all the players end up being fictional.

I really think this game is designed to be good at running fictional leagues best.
It gets better and better with the new features such as the playoff flexibility.

In NBA Live 2003, I liked creating this one center. Basically think, Manute Bol except very athletic. (A bit of a cheat but it was fun playing with him in the occasional exhibition.
