Numero Ten despite Santana giving up the most earned runs he has all season.

Delgado continues to impress....hopefully he can keep it up.

Take out his rough start and Delgado is actually not having a bad season. It's nice to see he hasn't totally lost it yet.

Delgado looks like a completely different hitter. It's funny, during last night's game, Keith said that Delgado has very quick hands and it was the reason for his success. I don't know about anyone else but after the offseason surgeries prior to last season, his hands looked slow and he was dragging the bat through the zone. Maybe it's taken this long for his wrists to recover?

I mean, two months ago there was talk of swapping Delgado for Sexson in one of those, "I'll trade my fading player for your fading player and maybe we can get a little revival out of them" kind of deal but right now, the way Delgado is raking...he's our best power threat.

We need a corner OF bat. We get that and I'll be feeling pretty good.

Yeah. The Phillies just made a break for it with their trade. The Mets need to do something now if they want to stay on par. But I don't want to see them sacrifice the future. As it is, there is a very bleak horizon. It may not be worth it to sacrifice too much for this year.

Weird. No posts since July, with all that going on.

So anyway, the season ended tragically for the second year in a row. It wasn't as bad this time, at least to me. The team wasn't as good and I felt like, if they got in, it was sort of sneaking in. The bullpen in particular was a complete mess, and the team didn't have that feel to me of playoff destiny that they had last year.

And so that concludes the tenure of Shea Stadium. The ceremony was quite nice. I had a bit of a lump in my throat as I watched Piazza and Seaver close the big blue doors. Seeing some of those old players again (Dykstra looked oddly misshapen, didn't he?) was really cool, too.

Supposedly Manuel will be back, which is good, but I'm wondering if there will be a big shakeup this offseason.

ctorg, my sympathies. This must be rough to take for the second season in a row, although I think this time might not be quite as tragic as last year. BTW, kudos to the vast majority of Mets fans who stayed for that closing ceremony despite their disappointment.
