1st Uniform Attempts
Ok, using some of the templates on here, I have created my first two uniforms for my HS feeder league. Not great, but I don't think they are terrible. Feedback would be greatly appreciated from some of the experts on here...

What Paint program and templates are your using? Did you do these designs on a single layer or multiple layers? Knowing this information will make helping you easier. Lets see if I can offer some suggestions... 1. Be careful when using black & white in uniforms. Computer colors are pure pixels but the real world doesn't really look that way. You may be able to improve your future efforts by using a very pale off-white for the main color. I think you will see that the eye will "see" this as white - but it will look better. The same goes for black. All cloth reflect some light so you would do well to use a very dark gray for the black. Again - the eye will read this dark gray as black. 2. If your paint program allows you to put in visual "noise," I suggest that you use it. Used in moderation, visual noise will add "texture" to the cloth. 3. There are some better shading templates out there that would give your designs a more natural look. You can find them posted in earlier forums. If you use one of the ones that Deft or I use, this will improve the appearance of the tee-shirt neckline on your uniforms as well (thank you Deft). 4. You might try a little less color saturation in the future. The Indians design is especially intense. 5. Your future designs might have a more pleasing appearance if you use a little more variety in your color schemes (check out Donjamoni's recent post) This may be difficult if your using just 1 layer (but easy if you're using multiple layers). 6. Regarding the Indians text, in future efforts you might want to make the text larger and located a little lower. When I started doing uniforms, I went to OOTP preferences and set the zoom level to always be Out. This will show off your uniforms to best effect and add consistency to their appearance in the game (i.e., with zoom set to out you can safely lower the text on your uniforms). 7. The structures in your backgrounds are awfully dark. You might want to download some lighter & more colorful ones. I have even gone so far as to lighten some of mine (or change the sky) to improve the appearance. If the background is slightly light, the viewer's eye will automatically focus on the uniform in the foreground. 8. When posting uniforms, they would be easier to view if you put a little space between them. Well, this is probably enough for you to absorb for the moment. Better suggestions can be offered once we know the particulars of your graphics package. Again, you're off to a very good start - better than many. Keep doing designs and you will be amazed at how quickly you will improve. If you can, check out some of the previous uniform posts for additional ideas. Nice effort!

Some very good (and helpful) points there. Thanks. I am using Paint.net for my uniforms. I actually DL'ed Deft's template and then some of yours I believe and I am using multiple layers. I read in an earlier post (forgot from whom) that the person was saving Deft's layers seperately and the adding layers, etc., to a blank template which is what I am doing.
I played around a little with noise and I did notice a difference. As for the Indians uniform, I didn't really love it, but I still wanted to keep it just so I could see if I am getting better down the road or not. I will admit also that the black on that uniform looks pretty fake. I am actually re-creating 30 high school teams for each of my owner's Alma Maters in my new OOTP9 league and these first two just happened to be similar in color. Again, thanks a lot for the pointers and I will post some more soon. I did re-design the Indians uniform and made one new one as well. I am pasting them all together below. Go to the following link and check out my post# 20 at the bottom of page 1. The first link listed there is to SimCentral where you can download most of my uniform templates and you can also download a sample Paint.net file of a uniform design to see how all the layers are used. The second link will steer you to a large number of links where I deal with uniform design. Hopefully this will prove useful to you. http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ck-needed.html Good luck in your future efforts. If you have any additional questions (or designs) please post them.

Out of curiousity, what are you going to do for team colors for all these teams. Everyone seems to be red and white

Those are some good looking jerseys. The Oak Park looks a little low and off to the left for my eye though.

And here they are all together. Can you tell which ones were my first ever tries and which ones were more recent? Hopefully...

Why did you take the cardinal from under the Case Cardinals logo in the center of the shirt? I thought that looked really nice.

Those are great uniforms! Maybe you could post some of the templates here.

Oak Park, Bruins, Bath, Nanuet, Falons and Knights are my favorites.
I really need to learn how to create jerseys, so I can post some here and give something back to the community. It would be wonderful to have one's "work" incorporated into somebody's game! There are so many great jerseys being made and posted here and elsewhere. They really make an already amazing game come alive. Thank you!
