Does anyone know a good website for hometowns for 2008 draftees? Striking out here a bit besides my hometown kid Tim Melville (Wentzville, Missouri!) Last edited by CubbyFan23; 07-11-2008 at 01:02 AM. |

After the Top 200 and some other random guys, going to fill out the remaining players with real life draftees in the lower rounds. Obviously that won't include all rounds IRL so if you have a request for someone to be included in the game let me know!

As long as Ryan Westmoreland is in there, I'm good. (He's ~108 on BA's Top 200.)
Why hasn't OOTP started implementing signing draftees yet? It'd be wicked sweet to have a signability rating for the draft pool. And slot recommendations and ****. ANYWAYS. Working on the Spready for a few hours tonight. I'll send you what I have when I go to bed. |

By the way, a good secondary source for the draft (and in many ways, a good primary source) is Perfect Game Crosschecker - Home Page
Edit: Unfortunately, though, a lot of content is subscriber-only, and I don't have a subscription. Double Edit: Here's some free content that might be helpful. Round by round scouting reports for the first 15 rounds. PGCrosschecker - Draft 2008, Round by Round Selections with Scouting Reports Last edited by RedSoxFaithful; 07-11-2008 at 09:12 PM. |

Quick look in V2 for the Yankees and a few small things:
-Russ Ohlendorf, although now at AAA, started off the season with the Yanks -Posada has no rating at 1B. Has played there in the past and will continue to play there sparingly. -ARod has no raing at SS. The Yanks don' play hime there because they don't want to piss Jeter off but he should have some rating Thanks-everything else looks great. Last edited by brooklynbums; 07-11-2008 at 10:31 PM. |

I have a request to add Mike Sheridan as a random real life draftee. He was a 13th rounder in the draft and plays 1B. He played at William and Mary and was one of the top statistical hitters in all of college(Batted .423 with 15 HR).

So, after two and a half hours of working on that damn spready, here's what I've done.
First off, I've added Arizona to the rankings sheet. (Bringing the total of completed ranked teams to 15...) This was mainly so that work could begin on Arizona's system. My focus right now is not on the rankings sheet, but on the tools sheets. Speaking of which... Those are incredible pains in the ass. I've begun work on both the pitcher and positional player sheets. They are in alphabetical order, and tonight I finished work on all players with last names beginning with A, B, and C. So far, about 200 players are in the tools sheets. (There are going to be about 1500 when completed.) I'm feeling a tad overwhelmed right now, so I think it's a good time to stop and go to bed. I'll email the spready out to whoever asked for it previously, and try and get the D and E players done tomorrow night. |

Are someone still looking up for missing players, and of course some photos.
I have started to look over teams and yes still some players that has been up in the majors are missing. I found photos on MLB for many left blanked and even with their Major League caps on instead of minors. I get back later. |

Thank all of you guys for your efforts. You raise an already excellent game to a whole new level of enjoyment. Cubby, are you still taking suggestions for tweaks to MLB players, or are you finished with them? |

Some suggestions for the Reds atleast
Jay Bruce, dont know if hes included in your top prospects work but his potential could use a lot of tweaking. Jerry Hairston is having a career year as well and while I dont think hes going to be hitting .330 the rest of his career I think his current ratings are a bit low. Johnny Cueto's potential looks a bit low (again maybe included in your top prospects work?) also I sent you a PM but not sure if you got it or not about Scott Hatteberg making $11mill?

Hatteberg was DFA so he's know in Triple-A I think.
Mike Maroth isn't with the Royals anymore so isn't Brett Tomko but he was let go well into the season. Barry Bonds should be a Free-Agent because he hasen't offically retired yet. How about making the Retired People in the League available forStaff/Front Offices hires to? Any chance of other Leagues in this like Northern,Frontier and so on? How are you going to handle Staff/Fron Office People because like Mariners GM is gone,Walt Jocketty is now the Reds GM,Jerry Manuel has replaced Willie Randolph and so on?

Hatteberg was released, not assigned to the minors. These are opening day rosters, though...
yoyoma, it depends on what version of Excel you're using. (Or if you're even using Excel) With 2007, you can highlight the text you want to sort, click on the "Data" ribbon menu, and click on Sort, which brings up a box that allows you to sort by any row you want. The default sort that I'm using has two levels (one to sort by teams, and one to sort by rankings within teams). If this doesn't answer your question, or you still don't know how to sort, I'll send you step by step instructions. |

By the way- are we still going with a universal ratings bump for minor leaguers? I really would love to see them be able to, like, hit the ball and strike people out. It'd be nice

Ok, cool. Well, for Atlanta, these rosters are missing Charlie Morton, and Jo Jo Reyes seems to be rated fairly low. He improved a bit in the offseason, he's probably a bit better than 1/2 star.

Remember that these tools grades are just one source. While I personally respect the Analyst's grades and value them highly, they're still a relatively unknown source/judge. Quick example: There is a huge amount of uncertainty with Dexter Fowler's power ceiling. The Analyst happens to think he'll have plus power, but other sources may disagree. So- while we can use these grades to base our attributes out of, we need to bear in mind what other systems think of the player. |
