Wow! What an Ending!

(First of all let me apologize if this should have been in the dynasty board, but really just a quick note about one game, one great game that I had to share the jubiliation)

I looked nervously at my bench as we gave up a go ahead run on a barely fair homer in the bottom of the 7th. It was a tight game as each of our aces had pitched well despite a stiff breeze blowing out to left. This was it, my first chance to get to the big show. It was game 7 and I had foolishly used all of my bench players already except for my back-up catcher. Now here I was in the top of the 8th and I needed a rally but I was scared because of the dominance of the other teams pitcher, Joseph. I watched in amazement as the pitcher finally tired and gave up a lead-off walk to my 1B Prime. Then, my power hitter Jones struck out. Next my other slugger Bales struck out. Now, we were coming up to the lower half of my order. My SS, Bornstein, worked the count to 3-2 and then he drew a walk! Now, we have men on 1st and 2nd, I have my sub 230 3B Benitez coming up, I decide he is better then my all defense no offense catcher on the bench and they bring in their ace reliever to face him. I start to sweat as the first pitch is called a strike. Then, the second pitch is a strike. GULP! Then he laces a single to shallow left field. But my slow 1B barely gets around 3RD before the ball is thrown back in. Now, I have a really hard decision, my 8th batter is up. He is a speedy little 2B, Torres, I decide that my Catcher is still now a better option so it is up to Torres despite the fact that he has only hit 220, 2HR, and 40 RBI all year. He is a world class bunter, do I try to squeeze home the run? I consider it but decide it is too risky. I watch in amazement as on the first pitch he swings and really connects. It is going as far as I've ever seen him hit it (which is unfortunately not that far), but then the wind carries it over the fence for a GRAND SLAM! I can't believe it, my heart is jumping. I bring in my ace closer who led the league in saves with 43 (but had a bad second half as age started to catch up with him at 37.) Fortunately, he was unusually reliable with a 1-2-3 8th and 9th inning! We are going to the World Series!!!

Awesome. That's one of the reasons why this game is so good. You really FEEL the emotion of everything as if it were really happening.

Yeah!!! What a great game.. I just had a very emotional game 7 of the World Series. I decided to start my one good starting pitcher despite only 3 days rest (my other stud starting pitcher had a season ending injury on the first day as chronicled in one of my other posts.) Anyway, he gave me 5 great innings but then was exhausted. My suspect bullpen gave up 5 runs over the next three innings to give the KC Royals a 6-5 lead. I went into the 9th with the same bottom of the inning that I described earlier. I managed to get a man on first(Prime again who was clutch this offseason), but then two guys hit weak pop ups (Jones who had 4 HR in the 7 game WS and Bales who was a very disappointing slugger the whole Post Season.) So, I'm down to the last out of the year and Bornstein manages to get a bloop single to RF which somehow gets the slow Prime to 3RD! Now it is Torres again who has hit 2 key Post Season homers to equal his 2 regular season homers. Two outs, man on 1st and 3rd can Torres do it again? No, he hits a routine ball to 3rd, but the 3rd baseman bobbles it allowing us to tie the game!!! I screamed so loud my wife rushes into the room to make sure everything is ok. I then bring in my 5th starter due to severe strain on the bullpen and he manages to pitch a scoreless inning allowing us to go into extra innings. In the 10th, I get two outs and manage to get to Jones who hits a towering 5th homer of the WS!!! Again my wife rushes into the room at my screaming (You think she would be used to it by now ) I bring in my aging closer despite his blowing game 6 and he manages to barely grit out the inning despite allowing men on 1st and 2nd and I win my first World Series ever on OOTP5!!!

Nice victory. And good thing you didn't try that squeeze - they'd have been ripping you in the papers, since there were 2 outs.
