Season Score

I need tips on improving my overall season score that I get after the playoffs end.

I've been playing as the Kansas City Royals and one year I simulated an entire season and got a 24. The next year I actually played half the season and made a few trades, and I got a 23?! WHAT?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know how the numbers play out, but if you want to score well you need to win the world series. I took the 2014 Chicago Cubs and lost in game 7 of the world series to Kansas City. My payroll was 54 million under budget and I only scored a 64 out of 100........I don't get it.

One year I got a 100/100. My team won 117 regular season games and won the world series.

I went 118-44 with the 2009 Royals. I'm not exactly sure what my score was but I'm positive it wasn't 100.

I've scored 100 only once, but just got a 96 at the end of a season. I believe the key is to 1. win the series and 2. spend as close to you budget without going over. I always get a higher score when I'm close to the budget vs being millions under. My best scores are in seasons I win over 100 games also.

I have never been too sure what the "overall season score" means anyway. I'd rather get an indication of how pleased (or angry) the owner is with me.

Interesting, I just finished a season as the Cincinnati Reds. I got a 100/100 score winning 90 games, won the division in a one game playoff, was $26,000,000 under budget and won the Series. It's hard to know what goes into the score.

I'm absoltely postive that the degree to which you exceed your owner's expectations is a major factor ... (I think).

I have gotten 100/100 my last 3 seasons. I have won over 140 games in each of those and kept my payroll $20-55 million under budget. I've won the Cy Young and MVP awards every year with probably 10 All Stars.
I don't know if it matters but my minor league system is always at the top too. I have over 700 pts right now. I'm stacked.

My last two seasons, I was runner up one year, champ the next. My runner up year was a 91 and champ season was 77. Doesn't make much sense to me.

I recently recieved a rating of 100. The owner expected me to win it all that season. I was 40 games above .500. Won the first round of the playoffs but lost in the World Series.

I completely ignore the thing. It has little logic to me.

Oh, there's a logic to it all right. It's not knowing what that is that makes it seem illogical. Like other aspects of the game, it's not fully and accurately described anywhere, which makes it frustrating.

I just want to mention something briefly, and this made me think of it:

This could be quite logical if you overachieved the first year, given the talent on your roster versus your competition, and underachieved the next even though you won the championship. It's not just whether you won it all, it's how you won, with what you won, against whom you won, how many you won on the way, and whether you truly exceeded expectations given the resources (players and money) that you had at hand. Plus other stuff, I guess.

I believe total number of wins makes some difference. One season I won over 70% of my games, but scored only 42/100 because it was only about a 55 game schedule. At least I presume that was part of it. But as someone else mentioned previously, does this really matter for anything? I don't really care about it, other than for curiosity's sake. Can anyone confirm it actually impacts the gameplay in any way?

If this is true then my owner should penalize me by lowering the season budget for the new season, shouldn't he? I've never had higher than a score of 50 yet my team usually has one of the highest budgets in the league. One season, I was expected to "win it all" and completely bombed. My team finished with the worst record in the league yet I still had roughly the same budget the following season.

Well, I would tend to agree. I find this the case with games that are produced by non-English (native language) designers and also in the case of games that come with limited documentation.

Can be very annoying.
