Crashes on Save

Running the Steam version of OOTP9 on a PC. I Had played 2 games past the all star game and when I went to save it the game crashed corrupting the save file for that season. I had it backed up to 2 games before the all star game and had successfully saved it 3 times past the back up without any problems but now when I restore the back up game and go to save it immediately after it loads aswell as various games played past it crashes on the save again and corrupts the file.

Can you please try to create a new fictional league as a test to see if it shows the same behavior?

I guess I should of added that it's the second time it's happened to me at this point in the game only the first time I had'nt backed it up so I did'nt have anything to try to work with. I manage ecery game so it takes a long time to get to that point but I tried everything in all the other threads that were even remotely similar allthough I could'nt find anything with advice for fixes when the game wont save but is still playable.

I did manage to fix it allthough what I did does'nt make sense to me as to why it started working so I'm not positive it was the reason. What I really dont understand though is how the backup which was savable after it was backed up also became unsavable after the first crash. Here's what I do know if it helps anyone in the future.

Things that did'nt fix the crash on save:

-Deleting all saved box scores/news reports in different varying amounts.
-I went through every player related file and had 80 or so with player id but no information so I deleted them aswell as the players that matched them.
-Checked all the player files to see if any of the stat/rating info was odd (none were other than the blank ones)
-Changed the update picture from when needed to end of season and back again each time I tried something new.
-Started a new season and simmed it to the same point then tried exporting my league info and reimporting it into the new one thinking mabey a file I had'nt found related to the game itself was corrupted somehow.
-Tried progressing to various dates and attempting the save.
-Plus everything else in any remotely similar tech post.

What did work I think was saving it first as the quick start league and then regularly saved it afterwards without a crash.

So you aren't seeing any more crashes in any of your leagues? Did you save a copy of the original league that was crashing?

I managed to finish the season without another crash on save but when I started my second season it returned again. I tried everything I tried before and then some and was so very close to just giving up but then I thought mabey it'll still backup so I played 2 weeks using backup as my save file and at the end when I was going to quit anyhow I figured mise well try a save and it saved without a crash.

One thing I did notice though and changed was some new players I traded for had completely different stats than when I had them before the crashes started and I did change them back to what they were when I noticed this. I dont know if it has anything to do with the reoccurring save crash problem I seem to be having or not but it is the only change I made this time from it not working to working.

I dont have a copy of the save game file as when it works it's fine and when it does'nt the save crash completely corrupts the save file making it unplayable aswell. I do how ever have a copy of the back up file that I was pulling the crash problems from as I moved it out of my file before I started using back ups as saves. Just let me know if you want a copy of it.

I don't think there'd be any harm in getting a copy of your backup put up on the FTP server to see if Markus can see anything untoward.

This time it was saving fine then it crashed on the save so I went to save via backing it up again and it crashed on that so this time I lost it all again. There's no rhyme or reason to it as I dont mess with any files or use any add ons or even change any settings when it's working. I hate to say it though but I cant deal with it anymore, it takes too long to set up a good team plus I like to manage all my games myself and it's just too much time lost each time not even counting the hours trying to make it work.

I'll mabey try it again in a month or two to see if it's less buggy or sooner if there's ever a save as feature patched in so that I can have multiple copies of my back ups and saves and not lose everything any time the game crashes.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble. Maybe give the next patch a shot when it is released.
