All time All Star League

Is there any way to set up an all time all star league?
I want to set up a league with major league teams comprised of the best players in history for each team.
Has anyone done this or know how to do it?

It's certainly possible, and all you need it OOTP 9 to do it, because it comes with the Lahman Historical Baseball Database.

I cannot give you a complete set of instructions on how to do this; see the manual for that. I will, though, give you a brief idea of how it is done.

First, you must be playing in Commissioner Mode.

Second, since you are importing historical players, not teams, you go to the league's Free Agents screen.

At the bottom of that screen, you see a button called Import Historical Player. Press that.

Now, it's looking for a file named MASTER.csv which is the key to the Lahman Database. This is the tricky part. You have to navigate to the Out of the Park Developments/OOTP Baseball 9/data/stats folder. Depending on how you installed your game, that could be in My Documents or Program Files (and good luck if you own a Mac).

In that folder, you will see MASTER.csv. Click on that and press Confirm.

If all went well, you will see the screen below. Here's where the manual comes in (go online - unfortunately F1 does not work at this point in the game); I won't explain to you what the options mean and how to use them.

I will point out to you the example that you see there for selecting a player by using a standard code such as ruthba01 for Babe Ruth, and for selecting a prime year from his career. By the way, you can get this code by looking up the player at Baseball Reference; the code is in the URL for the player's page there.

Well, you could go the other way and import historical teams then delete players that you do not want.
