Pitch Counts

First off, this is a great game, but damn, it's made me an unproductive slug the past couple weeks. Oh well, the air is polluted and the sun gives you cancer, everything in the outside world is bad.

I think I remember a post about this last year, but I can't seem to find it. I have a STUD rookie pitcher. I'd kind of like to keep his arm from falling off. Just how much do pitch counts and pitches thrown affect a young pitcher? I seem to remember last year if they threw too many innings early on in their careers, they were usually crap by the age of 30. Is that memory sound right, or is it just one of my clouded memories from too many beers at a young age? Has anyone noticed anything in this years game?

Also, I do mostly simming, although I play a game or two a month. Again, this could be my clouded memory or maybe another game, but is there away to get the manager to keep a pitcher on a pitch count of some kind during the sims? I'd really like to keep this pitcher under 200 innings for the next few years. He is only 20. Oh, and if it matters, it's in a fictional league, in 1972 using Skydogs modifers. Thanks.

EDIT...Already found the pitch counts on the player profiles. I guess it helps to look

My ace starting pitcher, in his 12th year at age 32, had a rookie year of 21-8 3.23 ERA and 265 IP. He has only pitched less than 200 innings once and that was his 2nd season. He's had 4 seasons over 300 IP's including one year at 375 IP. This career started with the V2006 through V9 now.

I refuse to use pitch counts. I'm like Dusty Baker. But younger, and white.

I don't like to have my SP break 110 pitches an outing until they are 30.
