Unhappy How do I avoid the inaugural draft?

I started a 64 team historical league with the prior WS participants. However on jan 2 the game insists that I have a 200 player draft. This changed some of the teams and hurt some of the rosters. How can I avoid this draft???

Create the league with random teams, run the draft, delete all the teams and players and league history, then import your desired teams? Just a guess.

That's a lot of work. It took some time to import the 64 teams and now the inaugural draft is killing the setup. Isn't there a way to avoid the inaugural draft on 1/02???????

Thumbs down

I tried a quick start, but the inaugural draft is very persistent. With all the options I have this is clearly very disapointing! I spent hours on this game and it is difficult to get to the regular season!

Looks like I HAVE to do the inaugural draft, then delete the teams, then reimport all again. Why? Why? Why is there an inaugural draft when I don't want one and it isn't needed???????

daves, I'm sorry, but I think Carplos is mistaken. You only see that option when you are first starting a game.

Listen, I have an idea. Instead of trying to avoid the inaugural draft, go with it.

First, though, dump your rosters. League Setup, Functions, Import/Export, Export Rosters. Don't change the file name, just say OK. Make a note where the file is located; the game tells you.

Go through the rigamarole of the draft. When it is over, go back to League Setup, Functions, and click the Functions button. Look for the Release All Players / Clear Rosters option and click that. This dumps everybody in the Free Agent pool.

Now go to the league's Free Agents page. Make sure you are playing in Commissioner Mode (see Manager Options). At the bottom of the Free Agents page you will see a button to Delete all Free Agents. Do that.

Finally, go back one more time to League Setup, Functions, Import/Export, only this time, you want to Import Rosters. Go to where the roster file was saved and select it, click Import. You will get a message that the Import is Complete.

If all went well, your historical players should be back on their teams and your unwanted fictional players from the inaugural draft should be gone.

I now see that new league setup defaults to have one so I started a new league without an inaugural draft.

I thought this would work, but somehow the inaugural draft players remained on the rosters?

But . . . if you have not gone through the inaugural draft yet (correct?), how can they be on the rosters already? If they are, then my method will not work, because you are just dumping them and your historical players in the roster file and importing them back again.

Edit: Uh, you were supposed to export the rosters before the draft. Is that the problem?

I did export before the draft. It seems the import does not delete the unwanted players.
