Crash on Startup

Help. I've been playing OOTP9 for a week now with no problems. Suddenly, now i try to load in the game, i get an OOtTP9.exe error message. The window about forwarding on to Microsft comes up and it crashes.

I've done three uninstalls (then doing a pc search to make sure no files remain on my pc each time), then a complete re-install ~(three separate times) and each time when i've done the setup and started a game, the same error message appears and it crashes.

No more OOTP by the looks of it!!!!

Any advice and assistance would be gratefully received. Thanks to all if you can.

When exactly are you getting the error message? When you load up OOTP or when you try to load your saved game? If the latter, can you open up other saved games just fine?

When i first loaded one of my two saved games. As soon as the progress bar hit 100% the crash happened. I tried it with my second saved game and the crash happened again. I deleted both games, not from within the game itself but from the saved data files within the ootp file.

I then tried a new major league game and the crash occurred after the 100% load once again. This also happened when i tried a new fictional game and a quick start game. Each time the crash happens at exactly the same point.

(Thanks for coming back to me).

might be useful to know your computer specs - what type of processor, how much memory, hard drive size and available space.

That's a very small hard drive with not a lot of space left. Have you defragged recently? I'd suggest doing that and running some of the free scans at PC Pitstop: Free PC Diagnostics, computer help and Tuneups to make sure your PC settings are ideal.

I have to think it might be something with your computer since every type of game is crashing in the same spot. Also, have you run older versions of OOTP without issue? If so, which ones? Thx.

Ran into this same thing this afternoon, although not immediately upon load. The thing I noticed is it seemed like the database got corrupted because when I loaded up the game, it hung on finalizing for a long time...like 2 full minutes whereas in the past on the same system and same saved game it maybe sat there for 15-20 seconds. when I got to a game screen, I noticed all the images were wrong...wrong player photos, wrong team logos. looked at some rosters and all the names were wrong...even saw a Joe Unknown in there. That's when the crash too place. started ootp9 back up and stll the same picture mismatches and the same delay on finalizing, and then the crash about a mintue after being in the game.

Reinstalled OOTP9, reimported by OOTP8 saved game, and all looks good now.

That's good advice at this point. jays492797, can you please try uninstalling and reinstalling OOTP 9?
