Deleting a Custom Game?

I created a historical game before I learned how to load in player photos, etc. and now would like to delete it and start a new game from scratch...

How do I do that?

Thanx

Go to your My Documents folder, then OOTP Developments > OOTP9 > saved_games then just delete whatever league you want.

When I do this and choose the folder and choose to delete it I get this message:

"Cannot delete html: it is being used by another person or program.
Close any programs that may be using the program and try again."

A saved games folder is appearing in the bottom of the desktop next to the start menu (which must be the 'other program', but I can't get to it w/o the folder apearing down there.

Any tips?

Thanks for the help!

You lost me on that third paragraph. The second paragraph sounds like you are trying to delete a saved game (a folder named [your game name].lg inside saved_games) while still running the OOTP program or perhaps you were looking at something within the game folder using some other program. Make sure everything is off, including OOTP of course.

Yeah, I realised the third paragraph doesn't make sense...any open program is displayed doen there...my bad...

Anyway, I don't seem to be able to get to the folder w/o opening the game...

I'm going to my documents then to ootp developments then ootp baseball then to saved games and then I choose my SFGiants.lg folder and it won't let me delete it...

So there must be a way to get to this folder w/o opening the game?

Thanks very much!

I know what you are doing wrong. You are getting the error below, correct? That is because you are trying to delete the game that is currently loaded in OOTP. You must either:
  1. End OOTP and delete the saved game in Windows Explorer, or
  2. Switch to another game in OOTP, then delete the saved game in Windows Explorer.
By the way, if you do 1., you get an error message the next time you start OOTP because it is still looking for that game. See the second screen print. That's really not a problem; all you have to do is create or load another game.

This is probably confusing the heck out of you. Do this instead. You know how you load a game from the Main Screen? I assume you have more than one; load another game that you want to keep. If not, create another one. Then go back into that Load Game screen. You will now see that if you click on the game that you want to get rid of, the Delete button on the lower left comes on - see the third screen print - use that to delete unwanted games.

Just remember, you cannot delete the current game while the program is running.

Yeah, the windows explorer option does confuse the heck out of me, but the 'create a new game and then delete the old one' from the screens you showed makes a lot of sense...

Thanks for taking the time to help me out and printing those screens to 'idiot proof' this as much as possible...

I have a feeling that OOTP 09 is going to improve my (lacking) PC skill set considerably...

Yikes, between this and learning how to load mods I certainly learned a lot today!

Yikes!

Yeah, I kinda thought that second option would be better for you. And that's no put down, either. This a complicated game, and you should be looking for the simplest solutions in order to maximize fun and minimize hassle. So, go maximize your fun!

See, I wasn't even aware we could delete games from within OOTP now.

No offence taken!

I came to the world of laptops, gaming (and console gaming) later than most, so this game hass a slightly steep leanring curve.

But thanks to the great community at this forum, I'm going to be able to fire up a 1960 historical game with the correct photos, ballparks, logos, a detailed database and who knows what else...

Thanks guys!
