Deleting a Custom Game?
I created a historical game before I learned how to load in player photos, etc. and now would like to delete it and start a new game from scratch...
How do I do that? Thanx |

Go to your My Documents folder, then OOTP Developments > OOTP9 > saved_games then just delete whatever league you want.

When I do this and choose the folder and choose to delete it I get this message: "Cannot delete html: it is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that may be using the program and try again." A saved games folder is appearing in the bottom of the desktop next to the start menu (which must be the 'other program', but I can't get to it w/o the folder apearing down there. Any tips? Thanks for the help! |

Yeah, I realised the third paragraph doesn't make sense...any open program is displayed doen there...my bad... Anyway, I don't seem to be able to get to the folder w/o opening the game... I'm going to my documents then to ootp developments then ootp baseball then to saved games and then I choose my SFGiants.lg folder and it won't let me delete it... So there must be a way to get to this folder w/o opening the game? Thanks very much! |

I know what you are doing wrong. You are getting the error below, correct? That is because you are trying to delete the game that is currently loaded in OOTP. You must either:
This is probably confusing the heck out of you. Do this instead. You know how you load a game from the Main Screen? I assume you have more than one; load another game that you want to keep. If not, create another one. Then go back into that Load Game screen. You will now see that if you click on the game that you want to get rid of, the Delete button on the lower left comes on - see the third screen print - use that to delete unwanted games. Just remember, you cannot delete the current game while the program is running. Last edited by 1998 Yankees; 06-23-2008 at 09:49 PM. |

Yeah, the windows explorer option does confuse the heck out of me, but the 'create a new game and then delete the old one' from the screens you showed makes a lot of sense...
Thanks for taking the time to help me out and printing those screens to 'idiot proof' this as much as possible... I have a feeling that OOTP 09 is going to improve my (lacking) PC skill set considerably... Yikes, between this and learning how to load mods I certainly learned a lot today! Yikes! |

See, I wasn't even aware we could delete games from within OOTP now.

No offence taken! I came to the world of laptops, gaming (and console gaming) later than most, so this game hass a slightly steep leanring curve. But thanks to the great community at this forum, I'm going to be able to fire up a 1960 historical game with the correct photos, ballparks, logos, a detailed database and who knows what else... Thanks guys! |
