Lack of realism in OOTP: no switch pitcher

I thought version 9 was supposed to provide "Endless possibilities with historical and fictional leagues."

So why haven't I seen any switch pitchers yet in this version?

Other than the dude on the Staten Island Yankees in the news, name me another switch pitcher that doesn't have a Youtube video.

Greg Harris did it in the mid 90s at some point...only did it for a batter I believe. There was also someone in the late 1800s or early 1900s but the name escapes me right now.

I've been saying this for ages =)

I'm going to suggest it for OOTP10.

Tony Mullane. Threw out his arm in a throwing contest (where he was rumored to throw the ball 417 feet), so he learned to throw left-handed. If I recall, he once threw a 17-inning no-hitter...I think the opposing pitcher was Fred Toney, who once threw a double no-hitter (he and Hippo Vaughn both threw no-hitters against one another for nine innings).

Strangely, I just woke up and that was all from memory.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

It doesn't matter how many there are in real life; we know it's possible, and it would have game effects, so it's reasonable to suggest that "endless possibilities with...fictional leagues" should include it.

That can be said of a bunch of things, though, so it becomes a question of how to prioritize the modeling of all the things people might like their imagined baseball world to include.

I disagree. There's only one thing I can say: With how little an issue this is, if Markus spent any time on this rather than other matters (Head to Head play would be far more important than a switch pitcher to me, IMO), I'd have to boycott OOTP and declare the inmates running the asylum. Once there's say a half dozen switch pitchers throwing regularly in MLB, than you got my attention.

In the meantime, this is a "fringe" that can take a back seat.
