World Baseball League Mod - "World Cup Soccer baseball style"
YES, I WILL APPRECIATE ANYONE WHO MAY BE INTERESTED IN MODDING THIS WITH ME. BETA TESTERS WILL BE ACCEPTED. SEND ME A PM, IF INTERESTED.
I came up with an idea to create a World Cup style for World Baseball League. I created all countries as their team name without nicknames (no need for nicknames). I set up adjustments to the rules to have no foreign players on the teams, which should keep all players on their national teams. I turned off Rule 5 draft, amateur draft, and Finances. Those are not needed to run an international team (trading and free agents will cause players to play for a team that is not their nationality). I went with 1 league with 12 divisions. Each division have 10 teams each. I haven't determined a playoff format. My ideal plan is to take top 4 teams from each division to have 32 teams (8 wild card teams) playoffs with 5 games series in first 2 rounds then 7 games series in quarterfinals to championship. Here is my current league set up at the moment. It may be changed because it may not be balanced with all divisions. I am open to any suggestions. I may have missed some countries that should be very important to this league, which can be replaced with insignificant nations. Code:
ALPHA DIVISION USA Senegal Belize Jamaica Czech Republic Austria Bangladesh Fiji England South Korea BETA DIVISION Nigeria France Benin Virgin Islands Albania Burundi Dominican Republic Guyana Swaziland Canada GAMMA DIVISION Cuba Bermuda Botswana Italy Ireland Libya Chad Iraq Australia Pakistan DELTA DIVISION Brazil Kenya Colombia Kazakhstan Oman Congo Germany Bhutan El Salvador Jordan PSI DIVISION Japan Israel Cote d’Ivoire Armenia Belgium Panama Myanmar Ethiopia Costa Rica Russia ZETA DIVISION Denmark Argentina Ghana Iran Cape Verde Angola Ecuador Sweden Burkina Faso Azerbaijan SIGMA DIVISION Afghanistan Bahrain Haiti Chile Indonesia Djibouti New Zealand Greece Egypt Latvia KAPPA DIVISION Belarus Finland Honduras Luxembourg Mexico Nepal Barbados Kiribati Qatar IOTA DIVISION Faroe Islands Cyprus Norway China Cameroon Liechtenstein Portugal Turkey Ukraine Vietnam OMEGA DIVISION Netherlands Anguilla Philippines Spain Romania Georgia Switzerland Malaysia Venezuela Uruguay PI DIVISION Wales Zimbabwe Guadeloupe India Niger Trinidad and Tobago East Timor Saudi Arabia Peru Cook Islands RHO DIVISION Spain Sri Lanka Nauru Taiwan Scotland St. Vincent United Arabs Emirates Papua New Guinea Poland Serbia and Montenegro Last edited by Silent Nature; 06-19-2008 at 08:46 PM. I'm very interested to see if you can get this to work with no foreign players....the tests I've ran so far create MAJOR problems with that(and I've altered the nations.dat file more than once)

I'm running into the same problem.
When I start up the league with USA, I still had all players that are foreign on my team. No American players at all. I wonder if we can get some tips from Markus about this issue. I just spent over 5 hours to set up the league while setting all teams to the correct nationality. Those flags are so small and hard to see, but I managed to select all of the correct flags for those countries. I just want to fix this issue with "No Foreign Players" option. Yes, it really is. All of the players have their name styles correct from their countries.
It really adds a lot to the realism. Right now, I had the playoff format with 32 teams. Top 2 from each division qualifies, along with 8 wild card teams that have the best records. First 2 rounds will be 5 games series: 2 home, 2 away, 1 home Then the rest will be 7 games series: 2 home, 3 away, 2 home I had the format set by seeding so #1 play #32, #2 plays #31. It'll have some kind of March Madness tournament style, along with World Cup experience. Better seed will have the home field advantage every round. |

Go to the league rules setup, under the foreigner limit option there is a "base limit on..." option, select "team nationality" there. Note: The option is only visible when a limit is set.

If you choose No Foreigners does it default to Team Nationality or League Nationality and how do you change it?

Ups... small bug: Set it to foreigner limit of 1, then set to team nationality, then set limit back to no foreigners, that will fix it!

I want to check with you, Markus, about this mod that I am hoping to create.
Is it possible to create this kind of mod where all players will stay on their national team without moving around to other teams? I turned off Amateur draft, Rule 5 draft, and trading off. I also turned off Finances because it won't be necessary since all players should stay on their national team. My other problem that I think may arise is that there won't be enough players to continue the league without feeder leagues. Will I need to create feeder leagues that is located in that country to keep generating players for EACH national team to keep players going into their team without running dry? |

I think I turned off free agents to avoid this. |
