Old box scores
Just starting to play around with OOTP8 and having alot of fun. So many things to try though and have a quick question. I was wondering how (if you even can), you can check out a boxscore from a game you played a few years back. I was trying to figure out how to view it by clicking on the league history tab but haven't been able to figure it out yet. One of the pitchers in my league threw a no-hitter and I'd like to go back and check out the box score but it was a few years back. Anyways thx for your attention

Unfortunately, unless you saved that box score manually or within an Almanac, it is probably gone forever. The game recycles box scores and game logs to save space; the ones from the previous season are generally overwritten by those from the following year as the season progresses.
If you choose to save any manually, they can be found in this folder (default file location): \My Documents\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\saved_games\[your league name].lg\news\html\box_scores |

To expand upon that answer: the in-game league history saves an overall view of history of your league up to that point. You'll get always current leaderboards, player pages, records and team histories (among other things). An Almanac saves a view of your league history year by year. If you want to see how your records looked in 1942 rather than in 2008, you'd look at your 1942 Almanac. If you have the option selected to save Box Scores and Game Logs, you can use the 1942 Almanac to look up any 1942 game. And so on and so forth.

What I tend to do is, at the end of each season, export the HTML reports of all box scores and game logs, then zip the two folders up and store them in a "history" folder, so if I ever get the urge I can go back and relive great games from the past...
Zipped up, each folders only 5 or 6MB, and thats with all my minor league games as well, so it doesn't take a lot of space. Doesn't help with getting an old box score now I'm afraid, but something to consider for the future. |

Although I sound really stupid, but how....
How do you archive the baseball logs and box scores? Is there a good way to do this? Just curious I pre-ordered and so I would have to be told as you were talking to a child..... ;->

Ah yes I found it in the almanac. Funny cause I didn't really know what the almanac did until now but I vaguely rememeber fiddling with the settings at the start of my game. Nice to know what its actually good for now hehe. Soooooo many features to learn in this game

What I usually do is save Game Logs for Human Teams (so just my team will have Game Logs) and keep Box Scores for Human Leagues. If I've created a world with a few leagues I would have interest in following (such as a Pacific Coast League or Cape Cod League) I'll save Box Scores for All Leagues, instead. |

Okay thank you, but...
If I do as you do, which is probably what I would do, save only the human teams logs and recaps how much room does that take up????
Also thank you for the information.

I have always told people it is a good thing to save the old box scores. Now that you have them saved, go to my Mod site and find my AuBoxScore deluxe program. With it, you can have it go through ALL your old box scores and add banner items automatically. It will add no-hitters, cycles, basically accomplishments. It is nice to be looking at old box scores and find one that says 'Hank Aaron hits his 600th home run', or 'Pete Rose ends his hitting streak at 44 games.'

Honestly, I have no idea how much room it takes up. A lot, I'd say. But I have almost a terabyte of storage space, so it doesn't really affect me.

As far as using Comedian2004's AuBoxScore deluxe program for this purpose, you would have to try it and see. Probably not too much space needed, either. The thing that makes Almanacs tremendous are the image and HTML files (things like player photos, logos, player profiles, team reports, and league history). If you don't select those to keep, then Almanacs are much smaller. |
