How to import a game into verion 8
In a thread up in the General Discussions section of the forum I asked whether a 2006 game could be imported into version 9. Markus replied that it could not, but it could be imported into the version 8 demo, and from there into version 9 later.
Well, I just spent an hour and a half downloading and installing the version 8 demo (technically the Mac 'try and buy' version). When I finally got to the screen where I could hit the button for 'Import OOTP 2006 Game', I could not follow the instructions. Can anyone tell me simply how to import a game from 2006? |

Can you be more specific?
Which part of the instructions are giving you problems? |

Well, essentially it was that there WERE no instructions. All it said was to load the World.dat from a 2006 league. No clue how to do it. Anyway, I'm past that problem and on to the next.
I got it to start downloading, but at some point it crashed to desktop. I started it back up, and the league I was trying to download was listed as available. I tried to load it, but it told me that it couldn't because it was from an old version. (Isn't that the point of importing from 2006?) I then tried to delete the game and start again, but it won't let me delete. Do you have any suggestions? Edit: My suggestion would be to take a deep breath and think things through before the next time I start one of these threads. The solution was to shut version 8 down, restart it, then try again to delete the bad league, which was successful. Then tried again to import the league, and that was successful, too. Everything is working now. Sory to have bothered you. (Nothing to see here. Just keep moving along.) Last edited by Curtis; 06-11-2008 at 05:26 AM. Reason: I are a idiot. |
