One minor change I would really like to see

In a solo league in OOTP 8 in the scores & schedules section the human team isn't always on the top but sometimes you have to find the result of your team and scroll down.

I remember in previous versions the human team was always on the top and it was very easy to qickly find the result and box score for your team.

Maybe this is something that could still be implemented into OOTP 9?

Thanks

That would be awesome for solo leaguers. I had a 90-team league at one point. Needless to say, it was quite annoying to have to search for my team's game on the schedule.

It's chronology... the games are displayed in time order.

This is where an improved scheduler could come in useful - have it make all the human team games start at 1105EST thus putting them at the top

Or just stick the human league on top no matter what time it is when the league isn't set to online mode. Playing as a West Coast team is hell on my scroll wheel.

I've actually been meaning to bring this up for a while but I keep forgetting. The chronology is fine for non-human teams, but the human team being on top would be a tremendous help for me. Sometimes when I sim I like to click on sim one game at a time from the Schedule screen and I have to scroll down to find my team and then scroll down again to see the score. If this would be relatively easy to do, it'd be great. It'd be a huge addition for me despite it's simplicity.

I actually like the chronology. Remember, these games are being played according to that chronology, and one of the windows in the in-game screen allows you to see games-in-progress.

The problem that I have with this function is that it has been downgraded from OOTP 6. In the old version the other games could be followed from the main screen. In the current version you have to click to a different window to see the results.

This change was a function-killer for me. While I used to watch it all the time in the old version, I now have it turned off in the current version. I would be surprised if many people who play out their games are now using this feature. In my mind, it won't be of any use unless it is put back onto the main screen for people to view as if they were watching the scoreboard at a game.

Yep, I also used to watch the other games all of the time in 6.5 and before. Nothing like being in a pennant race and scoreboard watching while playing out your current game. I can't say I've ever clicked on the games in progress screen post 6.5.

I did put it in the suggestion thread to put this back in the game. Hopefully it gets some consideration for v10.

I'm no programmer, but I'd imagine that there's a way to put the human controlled game on the top and still have it say 10:05 PM EST or whatever and have it simulated at that time in the game. Even if it had to be separated into two sections on the schedule screen, one for human controlled teams that was on the top and one for computer controlled teams which would be on the bottom, if it was easier to find my team's game because it was in the same location on the top left for AL teams or top right for NL teams, it'd be a big help. It's a small inconvenience having to scroll down, but if I'm simming games that way, multiplying that small inconvenience by 50 or 60 games makes it a bigger pain. I'm not saying that the human controlled team's game would START earlier all the time--just that they'd be listed first.

For instance, if you have a 10:05 EST start time, and you click play, the game could sim all games before 10:05 automatically and have your game start at the same time as all of the other 10:05 games.

You're so right. Hopefully in OOTP 10 Markus will give us back our games in progress!

Another option is, if OOTP can't put the human player's team at the top, to highlight the player's team. You'd still have to scroll, but at least picking out your team's result from a long list would be easier.

Note that OOTP does not do time zones. The schedules either list all start times as the local time, or sometimes the time zone adjustment is made to the starting times (but this won't work the next season when the teams are shuffled around the schedule).

I've been meaning to put forward my idea for how OOTP could do time zone adjustments to local starting times in the schedule files, but just haven't been able to get around to it yet.

Yeah, that'd work, too, if the human team on top thing isn't possible. Good idea.

Trying to find your team especially sucks on a Mac where you don't have scroll wheel support. Thankfully this will be fixed in OOTP9. But still, having an easier way to pick out your team would be helpful.

Just curious, but how would you have it sort for online leagues with multiple human owned teams?

How about a favorite teams...

How about a "Teams to Watch" or "Favorite Teams" section? Just to select the teams games that you would like to keep track of. They do not have to be teams that you control. That way if in a tight pennant race you can see the teams that are close to you. I don't know if this is possible or not, just a suggestion.

I really don't know. Someone earlier suggested that perhaps it would only work in solo leagues. I don't know if it'd be possible to code something where an on-line team's team is listed first. I really don't know all that much about how on-line leagues work. It'd just make things a lot easier for solo leaguers, I think.

If one can log in as an individual team and the game remembers that I control the Red Sox and it takes me to the Red Sox home page and whatnot, why can't it put my Red Sox game up top on my screen? And if you control the Browns, why couldn't it then re-sort when you log in to show the Browns up top?

That makes sense to me, but I don't know all of the coding issues that could arise. If it's an easy fix, then it'd be great.

Any comments from Markus on this subject? Is it hard to "sticky" the human team on the top of the schedule&scores page?

Just curious, maybe this will be possible to put into a future update for OOTP 9?
