Question Marcus alert! Logged Issues — BZ256

Has the issue logged as BZ256 been fixed in version 9? If it hasn't, then the game is unplayable (for me).

Why? I think it is interesting that this has (seemingly) always been a "hot button" matter for this board. I get that many here are very appreciative of the aforementioned game designer, but since "he who shall not be named" has apparently not taken offense to the misspelling of his name, why should we.

What exactly is BZ256? Ran a search on the forums and only came up with this thread. Is there a location we can view a master list of logged issues? The "Logged Issues" forum has a bunch of threads jumbled in there, making it tough to tell which issue is tied to which code.

Because spelling someone's name wrong is quite disrespectful?

-signed, someone who has had both his first and middle name spelled incorrectly by others all of his life.

Interesting. As someone who also has had his first, middle and last names misspelled all of my life, what I learned from that was that names aren't all that important. As long as both you and they know who you're talking about, that's all that matters.

If you would like to use your moderator powers to change the name in the title to either 'Markus' or 'correctly', please feel free to do so. Anything to oblige.

Is there a workaround to this issue??? Maybe releasing him, and immediately signing him? Or doing something in commish mode??? I read the entire thread but didn't see if there was a user workaround to this. Thanks for any info.

EDIT: I guess instead of releasing him, I should have said firing him. And I guess that might make him NOT want to hire with you again or no?????

I have also been blessed with a first and last name that people, for reasons unknown, cannot seem to spell or say correctly. Like Curtis, I have come to the realization that it really is not a big deal. Additionally, I find it hard to believe that the misplacing of letters can rise to the level of being "disrespectful." I doubt that Curtis, or others who have or will misspelled the "name", would have done so with the intent to disrespect. That just seems silly to me.

Any way, glad that a logged issue has been fixed.

Wait. If Markus has a problem with folks not being able to spell, then we've got a bit of a good running joke going (sorry, Markus - I'm not one to care one way or another - the important stuff is good ).

I blame the parents for giving out the names in the first place

I see this as the lingering effects of having "Marc" Duffy around and so prominently posting last year. For North Americans at least, I would assume the impulse would be to go with "Mark" rather than "Marc" so, given time, "Marcus" should disappear for the most part.

That's to his credit. Yet, I hold him responsible for proper spelling in his game (few things in computer games bother me way out of proportion to importance like a typographical error), so the least I can do is spell his name correctly!

By the way, the substitution of "k" for "c" in German words such as "Mark(c)us" is only of fairly recent introduction -- the mid-nineteenth century or so.

Just so no one thinks there's anything eternal about this or anything . . .
