Well since there is no team named Bruised Nuts ... I guess the Bald Beavers would have to do!

I'm sure that Christopher is overjoyed at where his question took us. But that's to be expected when you bring up such matters in a crowd like ours.

Sal,

Yep,Left Jab info is correct. However,Shakira better start putting out for the owner if she wants to stay ring girl..LOL. After some early resistance,I am now looking forward to the restart. 3 of my former Left Jab squad remain...Shavers,Nunn and Maldonado. Hopefully,I can be competitive from the start this time. Take care guys...see ya around. Good luck to everyone. Peace.

Scot, do you have an ETA on starting week one?

I can't wait to see this roll out.

I'll root for Bear's boys anytime they're not up against the Sluggers! Good luck!

It sure is. I'm looking forward to actually competing in the first season rather than looking towards the future.

I should be able to announce an ETA this week. We have 5 owners going to a 3rd round to complete their rosters. When they are in and have a legit roster, Stat-Man Dave will need a few days to ready himself before we kick off.

Note on Rosters..............
The Nobodies replacement picks are in and now the Bald Beavers, Punching Bags & The Nobodies have a full roster. I'm off to the rosters right now to update them.

Will we be getting weekly copies of the database like we used to or is that Dave's balliwick?

Either Romy or myself will be sending them out weekly.

As soon as the rosters are set, I'll see that everybody I have an email addy for, gets the UTBA db before this even starts.

You'll need to create a saved game named UTBA II. (Those are capital i's by the way). Also I'll send an updated folder of flags for the UTBA II that you will need to add. That should take care of everything.

5 teams are off to the 3rd round for picking fighters due to duplications.
  • Villebillies (replacement pick already turned in)
  • Diggstown Ringers (needs 4 fighters)
  • Coventry Hitmen (replacement pick already turned in)
  • Baltimore Binks (replacement pick already turned in)
  • Iceteaboxing (replacement picks are on the way in)

Once these picks are in with hopefully no dups, we will soon see the starting gate for the league.

Those turkey Nobodies made me sweat - telling me in a private msg. that they submitted Ike on their second roster.

Had me looking at alternatives all evening. You got me!

I'm really thrilled to have Vicky Pollard as my ring girl. She could probably handle the lesser heavyweights herself and most likely scare the rest with her appearance alone

Your 2008 UTBA II Bald Beavers....

The Beavers return a good number of former favorites to the new squad, including founding members HW-(8) Ike Ibeabuchi, LHW-(6) Eddie Cotton and WW-(6) Carlos Quintana. The team made an effort to also land original WW Mark Breland, and most especially, fan favorite Featherweight Bernard Taylor, but were denied.

Augmenting the roster are other former Beavers who joined in later seasons. HW-(3) Mike Schreck, LHW-(6) George Nichols, WW-(7) Johnny Bumphus, (7) Celestino Caballero and Fly-(10) Midget Wolgast all found success for the Beavers in earlier seasons, especially Caballero, Wolgast and Bumphus.

Even former minor league Beavers weren't overlooked. MW-(7) Alan Minter and LW-(6) Artur Grigorian found success in the Bush leagues while awaiting callup to the big time.

The roster is completed by 6 newcomers, 2 of which were former UTBA stars. Fly-(8) Vic Darchinyan was a virtually unstoppable force in the Flyweight division, and LW-(3) Jimmy Britt a very successful fighter in his own right. MW-(7) George LaBlanche, FW-(7) Somsak Sithchatchawal and the bookend Japanese bantams - (5) Katsutoshi Aoki and (5) Hideyasu Ishihara will, I believe, making their first appearances in the UTBA this season.

I am particularly jazzed over my Flyweight tandem, which I hope will rival the success of the original Bald Beavers Middleweights. Wolgast was very successful as a rookee in the original UTBA - indicating he could perhaps do even better starting off in the inaugural season with all of the other Flys. Darchinyan already proved himself to be a legend in UTBA I. The Beavers paid a stiff price to lock him up, but it will be well spent if he can approach his past success.

Other overachiever guys who should do well include Ibeabuchi, Caballero and Johnny Bumphus. My pair of middleweights have the potential to succeed as well, but no track record yet available.

The rest of the weight classes are fairly balanced, with the weakest probably being the Bantams. Don't really know what to expect with these two, but thought it might be fun to have two guys in the same division whose names will give Scot fits.

And, of course, how could anyone ever top Somsak Sithchatchawal?

The boys have elected Eddie Cotton the team captain. Cotton always did better than his 6 rating should have allowed, so he signifies the spunk that fills every Bald Beaver on the team.
