Constant Freeze

OK. I got OOT5 yesterday. I use Win 98, 1.2 Mhz, 512 RAM, DirectX 9.0. I turned all the 2 sound options in the game off.

After importing players I had manually imported into OOTP4 to OOTP5, I noticed that many Ps were listed as P's but did not havea role. So I have been scrolling through the position options until Pitcher shows up again, at which point the Role option appears.

That's not my problem, however.

In the roughly 4 hours that I've used the game, the game has frozen while editing players 6 times. THe latest time, much like the others, I edited about 3-4 players. I clicked NEXT, went to player #5. Suddenly, I couldn't click anything. While my cursor could still move, nothing responded. I was stuck at the player screen of OOTP5. CTRL-ALT didn't work. CTRL-ALT-DEL had no effect. Eventually, after pressing enough buttons, even the cursor locked up and I have to reboot.

Could someone help me out?? Otherwise, this game is pretty useless to me and I'll stick with OOTP4.

do a defrag
scan disk

disable screen saver

update all your drivers

unlicense and relicense the game

install the game again

use the recommended resolution
disable 3 D

disable sound in the gam

I had several weeks of problems until I did all of this

This happens when I'm on the computer for 5 minutes, before the screen saver would even think of going on. Could it still be related?

>update all your drivers
I'm not too strong with the whole driver thing. Which drivers are you talking about? I assume my printer, scanner, etc. drivers are not involved here, so not sure what I should be updating...

>unlicense and relicense the game
Is this covered in the FAQ section?

>install the game again

>use the recommended resolution
I'm on 1024X7??. What is the recommended resolution? (And where is all this basic info posted, since I don't seem to see it)

>disable 3 D
Not sure what this is referring to.

Thanks for your help.
disable sound in the gam

Drivers are video and sound card.

Unlicense
http://www.400softwarestudios.com/bo...threadid=12235

Screen res. 1024 x 768

Game config in the OOTP5 folder toggle the 3D option in that program.

Steve, you really think I need to unlicense & reinstall? And if so, can I save my league files and copy them back in afterwards (or could there be some problem with those files)?

OK, so I am using the right screen res at least.

Finally, what is the 3D option?? I haven't read anything about it.

Have you tried playing the game with other leagues? Or just with one particular one? Just the way that the game is viewed, I have not adjusted it in my game so not exactly sure of the difference.

I've just been setting up the league I converted from OOTP4. Having bought the game yesterday, I haven't done much as of yet. THat's why I didn't know what this "3D" was.

OK, so I disabled 3D and the freezing ended, but I still crashed 3 times while editing positions on players (though the computer didn't crash, so I easily reran OOTP5).

I found what video card I have but I can't see to figure out which driver to look for. I have a SiS 730s. But I don't know enough about these things to know which driver update I should be downloading. From the sis.com site, 1 was like 600K and another 5MB. I must be missing something...

Also, when EXPORTING players in OOTP5, repeat players that do NOT show up in the game (even through View All Players from League Setup) show up. Is there a reason? Like some players show up uin general information.csv as a 3B and then again as a P. In the game, they're only a 3B...
