Hey Jeff,
Just wondering if you got sometime to fill us in on how version 5 of your History utility is coming along. I promised myself I wouldn't start my OFFICIAL solo league until you released. ![]() Thanks man, Willy

Glad to know I'm not the only one waiting for it before I start to really get into the game.

It's very close. I'm just testing out a few more years. Look for it later this week!

Yeah, I've been saving every season at the end in anticipation of the new Cato release!

I really like what I've seen of Cato's utility, but I've never actually used it before. I was wondering if somebody could tell me exactly what I need to save, export, etc...(and possibly how to do so) before I continue my next season in my solo fictional league. I just finished my first year (lost in X-innings in game 7), and I would really like to start using this utility when it is released for OOTP 5.
Thanks to all in advance!

Hey Spook,
Not sure what the utility is going to require for OOTP5 since it's not done yet, but the way it worked for OOTP4 is that you had to save the league file (the .lg directory) just prior to pressing the 'Proceed To Next Season' button. Additionally, you needed to generate league HTML reports and the utility would use info from those as well. So, if you had the league file you'd have all the info you need, because you can always open up the league file and generate HTML reports. To back up the league file, I recommend just zipping up the entire .lg folder and copying it somewhere for safekeeping. Make sure it preserves the subdirectories in the zip file. As for how to get the reports generated, the readme for the OOTP4 version of the utility can be found here: http://www.jcato.net/downloads/history/readme.html Basically, you take the league file, run a little CSV exporter on the league file which extracts statistics from the league files and puts the info in .CSV files. You then point Cato's utility at the CSV and HTML report files, and it imports that info into an Access database. Once you have the info imported, then you have the utility generate its own HTML output files. |
