I've always been a big fan of HOI but right now I'm back at EU3 with the new version of Magna Mundi Gold just released. Gave Rome a quick try but its not that fun as of yet. Hearts of Iron 2 is the one I always come back to...fell in love with the original and the sequel is great as well.

And what about the newly released expansion pack Twilight of the Arnor for Galactic Civilizations II? Surely that turn-based 4X game deserves a bit of love...

Doomsday rules. Armageddon rocks.

It's way fun.

I absolutely adore GalCiv2 (and Stardock in general, for that matter). I've played the heck out of it and the first expansion but haven't yet picked up Arnor. Anyone here tried it and have some impressions? I'm very curious to hear how the separate research paths for each race worked out.

Ah, but then I'm hijacking a thread. Maybe a better idea for an off-topic post.

Got it. No reason to really check the forums until June I guess. Program away, Markus, thanks for confirming. Sorry this turned into a spit against the wind thread.

The picture for Desktop Emulation University is actually the engineering building at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, which is where I went to school. So I guess I was also a student at Desktop Emulation University and didn't even know it!

I'd expect there'll be some gaming reviews for it before too long. You can also hit the GalCiv2 forums to see what folks are posting there about it.

Don't think I've given that one a try yet. I'll have to take a look at it. I was always a huge fan of CORE in the original HOI but they haven't really progressed as far in HOI2. I mainly use vanilla with DAIM.

I was a part of the original CORE team, worked on some stuff for TRP for v2, and did a bunch of stuff over at Stony Road. But I got away from playing HoI2 for one reason - the inability to limit the amount of divisions present in a province.

Did they ever fix that? Are there still like 300+ US divisions that make a beachhead? 100 German AI panzer divisions that take out a nowhere Soviet province?
