OOTP 8 Players Drafted Twice

1. What, specifically, were you doing when the problem occurred? Include the specific screen you were on when the problem occurred.

I was just browsing the draft logs from my various leagues

2. What happened? Was there an error message? If so, what was the specific message?

No message, just a few players that were drafted various times in the same draft by various teams.

3. Were you able to repeat the error with this same game? With another game? If so, what steps did you take?

I do not know the extent of the bug.

4. If relevant, what do you think the program should have done?

Hmmm....

5. What is your league configuration (fictional/historical, etc.)

Historical

6. Are you a Mac or PC user?

PC

Latest OOTP 8 patch, have my files if needed.

Edit: Addendum to previous statement...it appears that lowering the number of draft rounds fixes the problem of players being drafted more then one in the same draft. However, I have noticed that now I'm having players being drafted in two consecutive drafts (i.e 1946 and 1947, if they were dumped by the parent team), which in a way is kind of cool, because that happens in high school. However, I have now noticed that one of my feeding leagues is now directly affiliated with the major league. Hmm....

AI teams were drafting these players or human GMs?

When a player was drafted multiple times, what happened? Was a new copy of the player created? Was he removed from the team who first drafted him and placed upon the second team?

Endgame,

Thanks, it's an 1886 depiction of the Pagan God ODIN by Georg von Rosen (I hope you don't already know that...)

Nutlaw,

As far as I can tell, the players themselves were not copied, because they always ended up being on the last team that drafted thems organization. The strange thing is now for some reason a feeder league is now actually affiliated with the major league. I'll try to mess around tonight and post here my findings.

Alright, this is frustrating. It seems like with every test I do, with every probable "fix" that I have, there is always something new or different goofy. I'm close to abandoning my idea here. I basically have a massive universe, and now the amateur draft appears to be all over the place.

On one test, a couple of major league teams didn't even have any drafted players, whereas other teams in the same league in the same draft had 2 or three, and the draft was set up to have 10 rounds.

Another test I found that some teams had 4 drafted players, others had 10, and no, trading draft picks is not checked. I was and still am under the impression that the number of rounds and available players is behind this, though I am not a fan of the "additional players" option.

And still, there are players being drafted multiple times in the same draft, and the most bizarre is one of my feeder league teams actually becoming affiliated with a major league. What's up with that?

Again, I'm using the latest patched version of OOTP8, and the AI is doing all of this. The game is NOT creating multiples of the player, the player is just getting drafted multiple times.

This is why I test EVERYTHING I do in this game.

Out of curiosity, do you have draft pick compensation turned on?

Nutlaw, compensation is unchecked. After some more effort, and tweaking of the draft rounds, deleting some leagues, adding some, jostling the universe a bit, it appears I have come upon an universe with stability and minimal anomalies...I'm convinced the devils responsible for the headaches were:

1.) Feeder leagues (always causing problems)
2.) Schedules (verbatim)
3.) Relationship of draft and draft rounds to major parent league.

You can close this, sorry for opening.
