Pitcher cloned - playing two positions at once (Redux)

The pitcher cloning issue was originally described on 11/2/07 [when bringing in a relief pitcher, the user's hand slipped off the mouse while dragging and the pitcher appeared in 2 positions at once].

I have had this issue and am still having it. I am using the latest version (2.0.3.68). Today, as I dragged my pitcher to the 9th position, I dragged high in a counter-clockwise motion. I suspect that as I dragged the player over the first position (SS), my finger might have slightly reduced pressure on the left mouse button. I continued to the 9th position in the batting order and dropped the pitcher there. My pitcher was now listed #1 in the lineup as SS, and #9 in the lineup as P.

I noticed the issue immediately but was unable to substitute any player (SS) for the 1st position. I went back to the game screen & immediately returned to the substitution screen but still could not replace my pitcher at the SS position.

I returned to the game screen (still with the cloned pitcher intact) and played out the next at-bat (in one-pitch mode). After that I was able to substitute a real SS for my duplicated pitcher.

After the game, I edited out the pitcher's very generous "5" initial rating at shortstop. No real harm done, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Things like this are why I feel there should be a confirmation or "are you sure?" button/dialog box before you return to the game screen.

I can't explain why, but for some reason I think that this will be a relatively simple issue to fix.

Can you reproduce this issue reliably? If we can't show Markus how to do it at will, he'll simply send a bug report back to me.

the same thing happened to me twice before, and for the life of me, i have no idea how the hell it happened lol. i do remember i like accidently triple clicked and jerked the mouse away and next thing i know, i had my starting pitcher playing 2 different positions.

also, in the field photo area where it shows all the players playing the field, i did the same thing to check the arm rating of my third baseball (he kept making throwing errors, and wanted to see what his arm rating was) i did the little jerky thing with the mouse and the third baseman's pic disappeared, and it has never returned when I play at that particular ballpark in subsequent games.

A similar issue just came up in testing, so I linked this thread to BZ 684.
