Troubles with recent OOTP8 purchase

I purchased the game today. I finished the download and its all set and on my computer, but when I click the shortcut, it doesnt load and get into the game. I am by no means a computer wizard, but whats going on here? Can anyone give me some suggestions. I downloaded the game, so I'm not sure if I can uninstall it and reinstall w/o a disc.
