Red Sox are 4th or 5th in payroll this year, having been passed by the Tigers, Mets, and I believe one other team... maybe the Dodgers with the additions of Kuroda and Jones.

No it couldn't. Consider it as showing how sick I am of having the Red Sox / Yankees series shoved down my throat. If it wasn't for the stupid ***hole fans both teams have the rivalray would be half what it is. There are many other very good rivalries that don't get national attention because their fans aren't morons. When was the last time a Cubs Suck chant broke out when the Cardinals were playing someone other than the Cubs? Or a Giants suck chant when they are playing somone other than the Dodgers? These amazing feats of intelligence occour at many Red Sox and Yankees games. Someone should inform MLB, Fox, and ESPN there are 28 other good teams worth watching on the weekend.

From a TV network's standpoint, it really is the best matchup of the day. Cubs/Phillies would be a distant second IMO. Other than that, Mets/Brewers? Twins/Royals? Padres/Dodgers? Come on...

I'm a huge baseball fan. When its Yankees / Red Sox weekend, I don't watch baseball. Lucky for me I have XM and that doesn't get blacked out because of Fox.

I figure Giants/Dodgers should trump all of those.

You're a part of the very vocal minority. Yanks/Sox gets the best out of market rating of any matchup. That's what it comes down to.

If they showed Phillies/Cubs as the main game this weekend, there would be virtually no complaining, but fewer watching for sure.

I understand why they do it, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. I hope the next TV contract eliminates blackouts for MLB extra innings, or at least for MLBTV. How much sense does it make for MLB to prevent me from watching their product? That's basically what they are doing on Saturdays because I have to watch what Fox wants me to.

Just to show the idiocy of it, apparently the Cardinals vs Giants game isn't even on TV in St. Louis. Now tell me the Yanks / Red Sox draw a better TV audience in St. Louis than the Cards vs Anyone.

Never tried talking to an OSU fan I take it? I've never heard FSU Sucks in the Swamp when the Gators are playing Tennessee....

Every team has fans that are obnoxious; its just NY and Bos have a heck of a lot more of them.
