The font is the same font, but it's not bolded anymore in many cases, resulting in a much cleaner look. The changing mouse cursors are still there

The use of sliders for the scouting budget is a very welcome addition.

Note to Markus - often "real life" does not equal "most fun" or "most useful". I think the Top 100 once per season works fine in 1982, when you have to factor in compiling the list, printing, distribution, etc. For utility, I think an updated list works better.

How does scouting work if you have financials off?

I agree. I have a hard time seeing how doing something at a reduced interval over the last version can be called a feature.

So in all of this, do you no longer send out scouts to look a individual players, teams, etc...?

Any chance of showing what the good stuff for online league's are? It would be easier to convince the gm's in my league to go from OOTP8 to 9 if there were some sort of game-viewer for them, so they can enjoy some of the play by play and some of the excitement that I get to enjoy as a commish. Or perhaps just a chance to dump play by play from selected games into html-files, inning by inning.

Well, either way, very nice looking screens. I love the scouting-reports and I like that the top 100 list is released once a year and that it will be written in the history for the players. Amazing stuff!

Add me to the list of people who think changing the top 100 from the way it currently works is - problematic to say the least. Why change what I have heard or read zero complaints about? Scratches head...

I think this makes sense (whether or not everyone agrees with the decision). The value of being able to use the information in news articles, too, should not be underestimated. Thank you, Markus.

Then your scouting director's skills are the only factor...

Oh, I have read many complaints about the previous way it was implemented...

While we're on news articles, a couple of suggestions.

This is the team page for my AAA team: Las Vegas Fates (AAA) Home Page

The 'News' box contains a headline "Hot Bat of Mckissick Burns Machines". Mckissick retired at the end of last year.

The third headline under "breaking news" is from April 28, 2028. The in-game date is now 6-18-2029.

Also, I think it would be nice if headlines on your team's page would be a little more...homerish. My team is currently mediocre, and it doesn't help to see things like "Player X Hits 500th HR", "Smokey Joe lights up LAS for Five Hits", etc. on the page for your team. It may be true, but it's darned depressing. Take Hollywood's page:

Hollywood Media Whores Home Page

Saturday, June 9th, 2029: Portland Whitewashes Media Whores
Friday, June 8th, 2029: Arden Maple Injured, Out of Lineup
Saturday, May 26th, 2029: Zullo Goes 5-5 Against Hollywood

Two butt-kickings and an injury (and injuries seem to be selective - I had my starting C go out for 7 weeks and there was nary a mention in the news). No wonder Shaw is always angry...

MH,

Great job! Someone in your position can never hear that enough (IMHO).

I think it's looks great and I know it will play great.

I'm buying two copies (maybe three) because I use two different computers AND I owe a copy to someone for their help with my "Out Of The Box" template.

Can't wait for the pre-order.

Cheers.

Adam

I definitely prefer the top 100 list being a once-a-year thing. I actually don't like it being dynamic. I like the idea of being able to click on it and see who was predicted to be the best, and looking to see what changes have happened and how they really did.

I like the realism of it, too. I understand the utility argument, but I'd prefer realism in this case. I don't find it plausible that I would know on a constant basis who would be considered the top 100 prospects. It really is something you should only get once a year.

Looks KICK ASS! I cannot wait to get my hands on this. I am glad to see the once a year top 100 thing. The other way was annoying . Do you have a target date for pre-order yet? CC burning a hole in my pocket.

Yeah, I like the once-a-year thing as well.

People have lodged many complaints about the game being too easy, and getting up-to-the-second mega-accurate reports doesn't help. But more than that, I just like the realism of the new prospect list.

Thanks for the input. This is something you ought to post in the in-game subforum, though.

Well if the Top 100 is fighting a losing cause (though I do wonder if baseball is possibly behind on this, I'd think outfits like Rivals constantly update lists in other sports), can we have confirmation that the Top Prospects for your team will be updated, or is that also static because of the BA tie-in?
