Can't Load Save

I'm having an issue where a previous saved game (a dynasty that's important to me) will not load. I get 93% of the way through in the loading database in the Loading Database panel where it says "Loading Faces." But then it just hangs there, non-responsive.

What do I do?

I have gone through a couple of seasons of this dynasty with no problems, using FaceGen the whole time, so I know my machine can handle it. I haven't tried disabling FaceGen as I didn't know if that would mean I would lose my current faces if I am able to later go back to using it. I see the two troubleshooting modes for FaceGen, but don't know how they're used. Please advise how to proceed as I don't want to lose this dynasty.

By the way, I'm running 2.0.3.68 of 2007.

I'm almost certain this has a chance of being repaired, but with the side effect that the faces will not be retained. There's a file that can be renamed, but I don't recall it right now. I'll do some searching, but I think it's along the lines of faces.dat or facegen.dat

I'll post if I turn it up. Sorry you're having this problem. Almost nothing is more frustrating than not being able to load a game you've been playing for some time.

Of note, trying different facegen modes or disabling it will not make you lose your current faces. (Then again, it may not be enough to fix your problem.)

Deleting your faces.dat file will definitely make you lose your current faces whenever they are regenerated in-game.

Okay guys. I'll play around with it.

I'd hate to lose my faces, but I'd hate to lose my dynasty more.
