Problems in Vista - 6.5 & 2007

I have both OOTP 6.5 and OOTP 2007 installed on my regular computer, a rather old one. OOTP 6.5 works alright, but OOTP 2007 bogged my system down way too much. I finally got a new computer that has Windows Vista on it. I’ve tried to install both OOTP 6.5 and OOTP 2007 to my new computer, having problems with each. The 6.5 version gave me an elicense.dll? error message if I remember correctly. The OOTP 2007, which I’ve tried to install numerous times is a bit weirder. I download the file from the downloads area, and it installs seemingly okay. It creates an icon on the desktop and in the start menu, but when I go to run it, it does nothing. I’ve tried removing, reinstalling (3 or 4 times) and even reinstalling and then applying the latest patch with no luck. Is there some sort of compatibility issue with Windows Vista, or am I just running into some bad luck here? As I mentioned, both have been installed and work on my old computer but they work very slow. OOTP 2007 ran so slow I have only played it 2-3 times since I bought it many, many months ago. Any thoughts on how I can get these installed on my new computer and finally enjoy some fast OOTP’ing? I've read in the forums about some Vista issues, but nothing that really covered anything I'm dealing with... Thanks!

Are you running Vista in administator mode?

Ok, good news! For whatever reason, OOTP 2007 started right up after I tried it this time and I appear to be good to go! Perhaps not restarting caused this? I thought I did last time... hmm.. Well, I'll work on OOTP 2006 now but at least 2007 is on and working on my new computer!
