Unable to update online game

I'm playing in an online league and I am generally unable to update the game from within the game directly from the commish file. I'm not the only one that cannot update, either, although most people seem to have no problem. I'm using 2007, although the commish may be using 8, I don't really know. Sometimes, (rarely), I can update. It's pretty frustrating and I'm about ready to kick this game off my computer and never look back. I've tried to un-install and re-install but that had no effect. The commish thinks it must be my ISP or something, but then I can update from another player who puts the file on his server. This is all seems to have started with the arrival of 8 since before that I had no problems whatsoever, although, some people had trouble even then. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Guess that's not terribly helpful.

I think it's a timeout thing. I know Beorn's server takes quite a bit longer than other online leagues, and Gordy's is probably much faster than Beorn's.

If it works well with one server, but not another, I really don't think this is the game's fault. It might be a timeout setting somewhere. I don't know if there are any online league file timeout settings, though.

Now I can't even open the game. Well, I could start a NEW game, but as far as participating any more in DDB, well, I guess I'm history. I've tried re-installing the game, on a new computer and the problem just got worse. All I can say is that my problems seem to have started when Beorn went to 8 while I'm left in the dust with 2007. I've gotten 1 e-mail from someone with the same problem, so it's not just me. It looks like I won't be around for 9. Since there seem to be compatibility problems with 8 and 2007, 8 ought to be a free upgrade since the games are supposed to be identical.

Same problem here. I'm the one that emailed the original poster if he had solved the problem. I have version 2008. Very disappointed right now. Can anyone help?

I've seen numerous leagues successfully run by commishes using 2007 and 8 with GMs using both 2007 and 8. I haven't seen any compatibility issues.

To clarify, you have no problems updating your league files as long as you aren't trying to do it in-game? When another player put files on his computer, were you downloading them in-game or out of it? Presumably there are other GMs using 2007 in this league without issue?
