April 16th 2004 - Gala Quebox II - Birlic vs. Parks
Alexandru Birlic (18-0-0 [7]) vs. Trent Parks (24-7-2 [13])
Junior Middleweight - 12 Rounder

Round 1
Birlic immediately starts putting pressure on Parks. He works on the inside and throws a ton of punches through the round with surprising efficiency.

Jutras scorecard: 10-9 Birlic

Round 2
Birlic comes out with an impressive work rate again in the second round and starts aiming for the body more. Parks lowers his guard and is caught flush by a left hook that sends him to the canvas. He can continue the fight, but with only a few seconds to go he goes back to the canvas after a tremendous hook to the liver.

Jutras scorecard: 10-7 Birlic ; 20-16 Birlic

Round 3
Parks is completely dominated in every aspect. Birlic is faster, stronger, more active and more determined. Parks can't seem to use his size advantage and is being exposed by Birlic's aggressiveness.

Jutras scorecard: 10-9 Birlic ; 30-25 Birlic

Round 4
Another lesson by Birlic who almost ends the fight towards the end of the fourth round but Parks is saved by the referee stopping the action to issue a warning to Birlic. Parks lost his mouthpiece once in this round, and he's starting to look out of gas; this is a question of time.

Jutras scorecard: 10-9 Birlic ; 40-34 Birlic

Round 5
Birlic lays back and lets Parks come at him for the first time. Birlic is less active, but he's still more accurate and seems to be able to control the fight any way he wants. Closer round, but Birlic looks better in there.

Jutras scorecard: 10-9 Birlic ; 50-43 Birlic

Round 6
Much like the 5th round, Birlic was more passive in this round and tried to dictate the pace by moving a lot and using his jab. Taking out a bit of the forward-first style and improving the outside game is an aspect the trainers have worked on with Birlic and he is showing it well right now.

Jutras scorecard: 10-9 Birlic ; 60-52 Birlic

Round 7
Birlic's game has gone long enough and he goes all-out for the knockout in the seventh round. Parks is overmatched, but he's holding on well for his life in there. Birlic lands very effectively and with a lot of power, and the crowd is chanting his name. Parks manage to stay on his feet for the whole round.

Jutras scorecard: 10-9 Birlic ; 70-61 Birlic

Round 8
Birlic still looks fresh out there, he shows great endurance. It looks like he is coming out even more aggressive than in the last round, and he is looking to finish the job. Parks takes a knee after being stunned by a barrage of punches from Birlic. He takes the eight count but is immediately pressured again by Birlic as soon as the fight restarts. He's taking a beating, and the referee has seen enough

The winner by 8th round TKO, Alexandru Birlic!
